We are looking for a Controller to lead the company’s accounting operations and provide reliable financial insight that supports business decisions in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. This role will oversee core financial processes, strengthen reporting accuracy, and help improve the efficiency and scalability of finance operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to partner effectively with operational leaders while remaining hands-on when needed.

Responsibilities:
• Direct month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to deliver complete and accurate financial reporting on schedule.
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.
• Maintain a strong control environment through reconciliations, organized support files, and documentation that is ready for audit review.
• Manage work-in-progress accounting by monitoring completion progress, evaluating projected costs, reviewing schedules, and escalating meaningful variances promptly.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financing partners to support audits, filings, and required financial reporting.
• Partner with senior leadership and operations management to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans aligned with business objectives.
• Analyze financial results and present practical recommendations that guide operating decisions and capital allocation.
• Lead cash flow forecasting and working capital oversight to support liquidity and efficient use of resources.
• Identify process improvement opportunities, implement more efficient workflows, and introduce automation that increases reporting accuracy and consistency.
• Evaluate team capabilities, clarify role coverage, mentor staff, and provide hands-on support during periods of process and organizational change.• Proven experience leading accounting and controllership functions in a complex business environment.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger management, financial close procedures, and internal control practices.
• Experience with work-in-progress accounting, percentage-of-completion methods, and cost tracking.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analyses that support business planning.
• Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and broader financial operations oversight.
• Ability to improve processes, document procedures, and implement tools that reduce manual effort.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial information for non-finance stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
