Nurse Practitioner

The Nurse Practitioner ensures comprehensive, efficient health care through planning, directing and providing care within a multidisciplinary health team.

STATUS: Full Time (36 hours) LOCATION: United Memorial Medical Center DEPARTMENT: Nursery SCHEDULE: Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts with weekend rotation

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Patient Care: Establishes a medical diagnosis; orders and evaluates diagnostic studies; monitors therapeutic procedures and manages follow-up plans. Follows established neonatal nursing standards, procedures, and practices, and provides patient care direction to nursing and other staff.
• Patient Satisfaction: Implements plans of care in a safe, effective, and professional manner. Identifies and prioritizes the teaching and learning needs of patients and families. Facilitates the efficient delivery of neonatal care.
• Teamwork: Performs therapeutic and corrective measures within neonatal expertise in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. Communicates effectively with administration, physicians, nursing staff, and other professionals.
• Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts consisting of days (8:00 AM - 8:00 PM) and nights (8:00 PM - 8:00 AM). Includes a weekend rotation of six weekend shifts within an eight-week scheduling block.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

NP - Nurse Practitioner Certification - NYS Office of Professions, RN - Registered Nurse - NYS Office of Professions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Light - Clinical - Light clinical roles involve frequent standing and walking, with occasional lifting of light objects (?20 lbs.) and routine reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation for tasks such as patient care, laboratory work, or specimen processing. Staff rely on strong visual and auditory acuity to accurately observe specimens, read instrumentation, monitor patients, respond to alarms, and communicate effectively with care teams. Cognitive demands include multitasking, prioritizing clinical and laboratory workflows, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams. Emotional resilience is necessary due to frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and the need for precise and compassionate interaction with patients and colleagues. Environmental exposures may include infectious materials, biological specimens, cleaning agents, sharps, chemical reagents, and wet surfaces. PPE use, TB testing, and schedule flexibility are commonly required.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
