District Support Pharmacist Full Time

Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy by acting as role models, demonstrating genuine care, and setting high performance standards for the pharmacy team. Responsibilities Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Traveling within the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled and overseeing the pharmacy as Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation. Assuming the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the team, and proactively resolving insurance and medication issues. Proactively offering and delivering immunizations and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn immunization protocols. Managing pharmacy inventory by guiding the team to follow best practices, with a special focus on protecting cold‑chain products. Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills as the industry evolves, and seeking opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients. Providing pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception) where permissible, and empowering the pharmacy team to provide holistic care. Understanding and complying with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles, and adhering to CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing, record‑keeping, privacy, and security. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe. Attention and Focus Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time. Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs. Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety. Customer Service and Team Orientation Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner. Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately. Communication Skills Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues. Utilize active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying and asking questions as appropriate. Mathematical Reasoning Ability to use math to solve a problem, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense, day’s supply, or additional bottles needed. Problem Resolution Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action among multiple options. Physical Demands Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time. Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; relax or reach with arms and legs to grasp items. Work primarily with fingers—typing, picking, pinching—and maintain precision when operating machines. Stoop to a considerable degree, requiring use of lower extremities and back muscles. Perform tasks requiring close visual acuity, such as transcribing or inspecting small parts. Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and/or exert up to 20 lbs of force; frequently lift up to 10 lbs and/or exert up to 10 lbs of force; generally lift negligible amounts of force to move objects. Communicate ideas through spoken word and listen to detailed oral instructions. Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Compensation and Benefits Anticipated Weekly Hours: 30 Time Type: Full time Pay Range: $60.00 – $76.00 per hour (base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary). Eligible for a bonus, commission, or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range.
