Position Overview This position functions to provide support to patients and family members in the form of counseling, information on access to community support, assistance with financial needs, and education/resources on cancer and other chronic disease treatment. The social worker serves as the liaison between patient/family and medical/clinical staff, community agencies, and other departments within Great Falls Clinic. The position receives direction from the Director of Oncology Services and direct job supervision from the Social Work Coordinator. Education Bachelor's degree in Social Work, required. Master's degree in Social Work, preferred. Experience Background in working with cancer patients, or other critical care areas, preferred but not required. License/Certifications Current Montana License, eligibility for licensure, or working towards hours for licensure. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Knowledge of social work principles and practices, including current standards within the field. Ability to use diagnostic tools and techniques including DSM IV‑R. Knowledge of development and maintenance of information/referral systems. Skills in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, counseling, and case management. Skilled in building and maintaining a community resource database by establishing effective liaisons with key sources of assistance for patients and families. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective time management.
