Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure District Partners has been engaged by a rapidly growing technology company building advanced software platforms and AI-driven capabilities for complex, mission-critical environments. Following a significant recent funding round, the company is expanding its U.S. engineering organization and investing in the software and infrastructure that will support its next phase of growth. For a senior engineer, that means the opportunity to join while foundational technical decisions are still being made. You'll help build new capabilities from the ground up, influence architecture, and own software that becomes essential to how the broader engineering organization develops and delivers its products. The team is looking for someone who has taken software from an initial idea into production and stayed accountable for how it performs. Experience within a product engineering organization is particularly valuable, along with the ability to translate evolving requirements into well-designed, maintainable software. What You'll Be Owning Build infrastructure software and platform capabilities from the ground up, owning requirements, architecture, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement. Write production-quality code for services, APIs, automation frameworks, and internal engineering tools. Design and evolve AWS infrastructure that supports secure, scalable application development and production workloads. Develop Kubernetes-based capabilities that simplify how software teams deploy, run, and manage their applications. Build reusable Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and integrate it into automated delivery workflows. Develop CI/CD pipelines, release tooling, and deployment automation that improve software delivery. Incorporate observability, reliability, and security into systems from the design stage through production. Investigate issues across software and infrastructure, addressing root causes through code and architectural improvements. Work closely with product engineering and security teams to build capabilities around real development and operational needs. Help establish software design, testing, code review, and documentation standards as the engineering organization grows. What They're Looking For 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, with a strong foundation in hands-on software development. Demonstrated 0-to-1 experience building new software, services, or platform capabilities. End-to-end ownership from technical design and implementation through deployment and production operation. Strong development skills in Python, Go, Rust, Java, or similar modern programming languages. Experience building production services, APIs, or distributed systems, with attention to performance, reliability, and maintainability. Deep hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and containerized application environments. Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform or similar technologies. Experience developing CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows. Strong software engineering practices, including automated testing, version control, and code review. Ability to make sound technical decisions, work through ambiguous requirements, and collaborate across engineering teams. Experience That Stands Out A background in product development, with direct responsibility for building, shipping, and improving production software. Building infrastructure software or shared platform capabilities used by multiple engineering teams. Taking a new system from an early concept to a reliable production capability. AI infrastructure, machine learning platforms, or MLOps. Rust or modern systems programming. Government, defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated environments. Secure cloud environments and modern security frameworks. Scaling software and infrastructure within a startup or high-growth organization. Compensation: $180,000–$230,000 base + equity + comprehensive benefits, with flexibility at the top end based on skills and experience. Employment Type: Direct Hire Location: Northern Virginia, hybrid. Candidates should anticipate approximately 2 days per week onsite, with flexibility based on engineering collaboration, project priorities, and business needs.
