Network and Systems Administrator

Job Title Administrator – Information Technology Overview An administrator working independently to provide ongoing support and management of technical infrastructure elements. Responsibilities include monitoring performance, implementing changes, conducting backups, maintaining documentation, and applying patches and new versions as required. Primary Responsibilities Monitors infrastructure performance and troubleshoots complex issues. Deploys solutions and implements basic infrastructure monitors and alerts. Responds to infrastructure alarms triggered by monitoring tools. Performs routine infrastructure updates and maintenance tasks. Performs routine provisioning of infrastructure and devices. Provides second‑level troubleshooting support and assistance to NOC and Support Services. Interacts with end‑users to troubleshoot infrastructure‑related issues. May raise tickets with third‑party vendors. May contribute to root cause analysis. May create and maintain a disaster recovery, security, and backup/restore plan. May assist with evaluating new technologies to optimize network efficiency and performance. May be responsible for tracking parts inventory and maintaining knowledge base documentation. Reports work when scheduled and works expected number of hours. Participates in off‑hours on‑call rotation. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Security principles and best practices. Performance monitoring and observability techniques and tools. Networking principles. Data storage systems. Directory services. Cloud computing and virtualization technologies. Programming & scripting languages. Configuration management. Desire to grow as an individual through continuous learning of new techniques. Education and Experience A bachelor’s degree is preferred, or relevant experience. Physical Requirements Visual requirements: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction. Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: operating a computer, occasionally lifting or carrying objects up to 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: meeting with customers, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Working Conditions The duties for this position are performed in a general or remote office setting. There is weekly pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a day. Equipment Used Laptop and desktop computer, telephone, copier, fax machine, printer, PC with Microsoft Office programs and other software relevant to the position. Contact & Confidentiality Frequent contact with office personnel in other departments, occasional contact with users and customers. Has access to confidential information.
