Field Service Tech II

Job TitleThis position is responsible for diagnosing and performing all repairs on customer owned equipment in the field.Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):Repairs and overhauls productSome shift work may be requiredMust be available for on-call duty as scheduled by supervisor. Performs on-call duties and responsibilities as required of all field service techniciansPerform preventative maintenance and repairs on various types of heavy duty diesel engines equipment in the field/shopEnsure total customer satisfaction prior to leaving job-siteEstimate machine repair requirements and prepare necessary data to provide an accurate repair quote to the customerTroubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and combustion enginesResponsible for effectively scheduling time and arranging all customer service calls, planned maintenance and breakdowns, to maintain effective customer serviceMaintain records of all service activitiesRegular attendance is an essential function of the jobPerforms other duties as assignedQualifications & Skills:Ability to perform complete overhaul and engine start upStrong technical/mechanical skills and experience requiredMust be able to work in both Shop and FieldMust be able to run emission testing to ensure compliance with CARBAbility to work for extended hours and be able to travel or work out of townAbility to troubleshoot engine related problems for both Shop and FieldMust be able to read, write and understand service instructionsMust have good organizational skills, aptitude for numbers, and experience coordinating and processing paperwork.Must have experience dealing with customers in difficult situations, good phone etiquette, and the ability to function in fast-paced environmentMust maintain excellent relationships with customers, both internal and externalEducation & Experience:High school diploma and/or equivalent combination of education or experiencePosses training and experience with Waukesha and Guascor gas engines, requiredMust have an equivalent of no less than five (5) years' experience with technical repairsPhysical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Tool Requirements:This job requires the employee to supply a complete set of hand toolsOther Criteria:For insurance purposes, must have a clean driving record and valid driver's license for the state they are driving in required.Complies with Company policies and procedures.Performs job safely with respect to others, to property and to individual safety.Works effectively with others in the company to encourage teamwork and productivity.We are drug free workplace that conducts pre-employment physical and drug screenings.
