Classroom Aide

Job Title: Pre-K and Elementary school Classroom Aide School Year: 2026-2027 School: St. Thomas More Academy (STMA) Location: Middletown, MD Employment Type: Full-Time/Part-time (Academic Year, 10-Month Position) Reports To: Principal Position Summary STMA is seeking a dedicated and faithful Teacher's Aide to assist in Pre-K and Elementary classrooms for the 2026-2027 academic year. The Teacher's Aide will support the lead teacher in implementing a classical Catholic curriculum, maintaining a nurturing and orderly classroom environment, and helping students grow in virtue, knowledge, and love of God. The ideal candidate is a practicing Catholic who lives in full accord with the teachings of the Church and joyfully participates in the liturgical and prayer life of the school. Essential Responsibilities Instructional Support: Assist the lead teacher with lesson preparation, classroom activities, and instruction in a classical framework. Provide individualized or small group support to students under the direction of the teacher. Help implement hands-on learning and reinforce phonics, reading, math, penmanship, and catechesis lessons. Spiritual and Moral Formation: Lead and model Catholic prayers, including daily classroom prayer, Angelus, Rosary, and participation in Mass and liturgical seasons. Support students in developing habits of attention, reverence, and responsibility rooted in Catholic virtue. Assist with preparation for school-wide liturgies and special religious celebrations. Classroom Management and Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and joyful learning environment. Assist with the supervision of students during classroom transitions, recess, lunch, and dismissal. Help manage classroom materials, bulletin boards, and student work displays. Administrative and Operational Support: Prepare, organize, and distribute classroom materials and supplies. Support record-keeping, copying, filing, and other clerical duties as needed. Assist with classroom events, field trips, and parent communications. Qualifications Practicing Catholic in full communion with the teachings and moral life of the Catholic Church. Willing and able to participate in Catholic liturgy and lead Catholic prayer. Previous experience working with young children, especially in an educational setting, is preferred. Demonstrated love for children, patience, and ability to follow the direction of the lead teacher. Familiarity with or willingness to learn about classical education principles and pedagogy. Bachelor's Degree for from a fully accredited college is preferred. Position Details
