Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by ensuring that instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are organized, available, and functioning correctly.
  • Provide skilled scrub support to surgeons, registered nurses, and other surgical team members during various procedures.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly to maintain a smooth and safe operative environment.
  • Maintain sterile techniques and adhere to infection prevention protocols, aseptic practices, and organizational policies throughout all procedures.
  • Handle, organize, and pass surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment with precision and attention to detail.
  • Assist with direct patient care activities before, during, and after surgery, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and dignity.
  • Support the cleaning, maintenance, and preparation of surgical instruments and operating room equipment between procedures.
  • Work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other perioperative team members to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, and ongoing professional development to promote clinical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Operate within the legal and professional scope of the Operating Room Technician role while ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.

Qualifications

To be eligible for this Operating Room Technologist position, you should be passionate about delivering safe, high-quality surgical care through technical expertise and teamwork. Candidates must have:

  • A high school diploma and completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician training program.
  • Current certification from the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
