Leggett & Platt Incorporated is seeking to hire a Maintenance Superintendent to oversee the maintenance department, ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and maintain a safe and efficient operation. This role manages maintenance personnel, preventive maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives to support production goals. If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.So, what will you be doing as a Maintenance Superintendent?Lead and Supervise in the following areas:Maintenance OperationsOversee all maintenance activities (preventive, predictive, and corrective)Ensure equipment uptime and reliability for production operationsCoordinate emergency repairs and troubleshoot critical issuesMaintain accurate maintenance records and documentationPreventive & Predictive MaintenanceDevelop and manage preventive maintenance (PM) schedulesImplement predictive maintenance techniques (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.)Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Continuously improving maintenance strategies to reduce failuresPM (Preventive Maintenance) Compliance Rate Safety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with OSHA and company safety standardsConduct safety audits, inspections, and trainingEnforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practicesMaintain environmental and regulatory complianceBudget & Cost ControlControl labor, parts, and external contractor costsEnsure efficient use of resources and minimize wasteContinuous ImprovementDrive reliability improvement initiativesParticipate in root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failuresSupport Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM programsIdentify opportunities for process and equipment improvementsVendor & Contractor ManagementManage relationships with external vendors and contractorsCoordinate service contracts and repair equipmentEnsure quality and cost-effectiveness of outsourced workTo be successful in this role, you’ll need:Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field(Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree5–10+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or industrial environment3–5+ years in a leadership or supervisory roleExperience managing maintenance teams and budgetsStrong background in mechanical, electrical, and/or automation systemsKnowledge of industrial equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, and controlsExperience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance programsAbility to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawingsStrong leadership, communication, and team-building abilitiesProven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentEffective problem-solving and decision-making skillsStrong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety practicesExperience with LOTO, hazard analysis, and risk mitigationThings we consider a plus:Certification in maintenance/reliability (e.g., CMRP)Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certificationExperience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)SAP or other advanced CMMS system experienceWhat to Do NextNow that you’ve had a chance to learn more about us, what are you waiting for!
