Industrial Maintenance Technician

The Industrial Maintenance Technician performs preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on the mechanical equipment used in K-Solv Chemicals' plant operations. The role is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining tanks and related components, valves, diaphragm pumps, transfer pumps, product filling systems, and plant utility equipment. The technician also performs routine mechanical maintenance on side-by-side utility vehicles and uses computerized systems to document work, track parts, and support maintenance planning. The successful candidate is safety-focused, mechanically capable, dependable, and comfortable working independently and with operations personnel in an industrial chemical-plant environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and rebuild diaphragm pumps, transfer pumps, valves, fittings, hoses, seals, gaskets, and related process equipment.
• Perform mechanical maintenance on tanks and tank appurtenances, including inspection and repair of valves, connections, vents, gauges, and transfer components, within the employee's training and authorization.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair product filling and packaging systems, including mechanical components, pumps, valves, piping connections, and basic controls.
• Complete preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled service to reduce equipment failure and unplanned downtime.
• Diagnose equipment problems, determine appropriate repairs, and test equipment after service to confirm safe and reliable operation.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on side-by-side utility vehicles and carts, including batteries, tires, brakes, belts, filters, fluids, and basic mechanical or electrical components.
• Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and shop equipment safely and correctly.
• Coordinate equipment shutdowns, repairs, and return-to-service activities with plant operations and supervision.
• Enter work orders, maintenance findings, labor, parts usage, and completion notes into the company's computerized maintenance or business system.
• Monitor spare-parts needs and promptly communicate required materials, tools, or outside service needs.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and properly store tools, parts, and maintenance supplies.
• Follow all company safety rules and plant procedures, including required PPE, hazard communication, lockout/tagout, hot-work, confined-space, and line-breaking procedures, as applicable and only when trained and authorized.
• Report equipment hazards, leaks, spills, unsafe conditions, and recurring failures immediately.
• Support plant projects, equipment installations, and other maintenance or operational activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to safely disassemble, inspect, repair, rebuild, and reassemble pumps, valves, or comparable industrial equipment.
• Ability to read equipment manuals, work instructions, diagrams, and preventive maintenance checklists.
• Basic computer proficiency, including email, data entry, and the ability to learn computerized work-order or maintenance-management systems.
• Ability to communicate clearly, follow written and verbal instructions, organize work, and document completed repairs.
• Ability to work safely around chemicals, moving equipment, pressurized systems, and active plant operations.
• Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record if operation of company vehicles is required.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, or respond to urgent maintenance needs when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of industrial maintenance experience in a chemical, petrochemical, manufacturing, terminal, blending, packaging, or similar facility.
• Hands-on experience with air-operated double-diaphragm pumps, centrifugal or transfer pumps, industrial valves, tank systems, and liquid filling equipment.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.
• Training or credentials in industrial maintenance, millwright work, pump repair, electrical safety, or related disciplines.
• Forklift, aerial-lift, lockout/tagout, confined-space, or related industrial safety training.

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify worn or failed components and determine whether repair, rebuild, or replacement is appropriate.
• Ability to prioritize urgent repairs while completing planned preventive maintenance.
• Careful attention to safety, housekeeping, product integrity, and maintenance documentation.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with operations, safety, vendors, and supervisors.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• This position regularly works in an operating industrial chemical facility and may be exposed to outdoor weather, heat, cold, noise, odors, dust, chemicals, wet or uneven surfaces, and moving equipment. Required PPE must be worn.
• The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; climb stairs and ladders; bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and work in restricted areas; use hands to operate tools; and lift or move up to 50 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance or mechanical lifting devices.
• The employee must be able to wear respiratory protection when required and medically qualified.
