About the position:

The AML Governance Lead will serve as the U.S. First Line of Defense (1LoD) owner for Transaction Monitoring, Name Screening, Transaction Screening, Negative News governance activities. The role is responsible for ensuring that the U.S. monitoring and screening framework operates within regulatory expectations and is supported by regulator-ready documentation, governance, testing evidence, and risk assessments.

The individual will lead the U.S. Monitoring & Screening Control Board, coordinate governance across global and local stakeholders. This role will act as the primary liaison between business, compliance, operations, technology, and model owners.

The Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) team in North America is offering a position in New York for a professional who enjoys working in an international banking environment. The FCP department coordinates all KYC related activities across different ING business sectors, both with external clients and internal stakeholders.

The FCP team is crucial in the onboarding of new customers and plays a key role in managing the non-financial risk of the current client portfolio.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the U.S. Transaction Monitoring and Screening Control Board and associated governance forums.
• Oversee and maintain technical regulator-ready evidence architecture, including:
• AML/OFAC Program documentation
• U.S. centric Model and Filter Design Documentation (MDD/TMD/TSD)
• U.S. Procedures and Local Controls
• U.S. centric Data Management Documentation
• U.S. TM Coverage Assessments
• Remediation and governance evidence tracking.
• Coordinate U.S. and Global stakeholders to ensure clear accountability, decision rights, and governance records.
• Oversee remediation plans, issue management, action tracking, and regulatory commitments.
• Ensure end-to-end traceability between AML risks, controls, monitoring scenarios, screening filters, testing, and management reporting.
• Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, and independent reviews.
• Drive governance around data ownership, lineage, reconciliation, control testing, and investigative context requirements.
• Prepare executive reporting and management updates for senior governance committees.

Qualifications and Competencies:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• 8-9+ years of AML, sanctions, financial crime, or compliance governance experience.
• Strong knowledge of NYDFS Part 504, BSA/AML, OFAC, FFIEC, and regulatory expectations.
• Experience leading governance committees, risk programs, regulatory remediation initiatives, or large-scale AML transformations.
• Deep understanding of Transaction Monitoring and Screening governance, testing, and model lifecycle oversight.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills across 1LoD, 2LoD, Technology, Operations, and senior management.

Salary Range: $178,000-215,000

The salary range listed reflects base salary only. This role is eligible for participation in a discretionary bonus program.
