Robert Half's client in Benicia, CA is looking for a Customer Service Representative to join a construction supply organization on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This role will support customers throughout the order cycle, from purchase order intake through invoicing and delivery follow-up, while serving as a dependable point of contact for questions and updates. The ideal candidate brings strong administrative accuracy, clear communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Customer Service Representative Requirements:

• Manage customer orders from initial purchase order receipt through final documentation, ensuring all details are entered accurately and processed on schedule.

• Review pricing, quantities, batch information, and related order records to confirm accuracy before invoices are issued.

• Prepare and distribute invoices, credit memos, and other customer-facing documents using company systems and established procedures.

• Monitor shipment activity and provide customers with timely updates regarding delivery status, freight details, backorders, or product substitutions.

• Partner with teams across accounting, shipping, production, sales, and leadership to resolve order issues and support smooth fulfillment.

• Respond to customer inquiries with professionalism, handling a high volume of calls and messages while maintaining service quality.

• Support account maintenance by assisting with credits, debits, documentation updates, and general order-related questions.

• Maintain organized records, reports, and transaction history to help ensure reliable customer and order information.

• At least 2 years of experience in customer service, order processing, invoicing, or administrative support.
• Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail when entering orders, reviewing documents, and preparing customer invoices.
• Ability to manage inbound customer communication and respond effectively in a fast-moving, high-volume environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a detail-focused and service-oriented approach.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications for daily administrative and customer support tasks.
• Familiarity with purchase order handling, order entry, and invoice processing.
• Exposure to ERP or company operating systems; experience with SYSPRO is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize competing tasks effectively.
