Respiratory Therapist

FULL TIME, PART TIME OR PRN POSITION We’re opening a new outpatient pulmonary and sleep medicine practice serving the Austin and Leander communities, and we’re looking for a Respiratory Therapist to join our clinical team. This position is available as full-time, part-time, or PRN. Our practice is led by a board-certified internist and pulmonologist with a commitment to compassionate, high-quality specialty care. Responsibilities: Care Coordination & Administrative Responsibilities • Coordinate oxygen qualification workflows and communicate with DME vendors, oxygen suppliers, PAP suppliers, pharmacies, sleep labs, imaging centers, and referring offices. • Assist with prior authorizations and required documentation for PFTs, sleep studies, PAP therapy, oxygen, nebulizers, respiratory equipment, and specialty medications. • Manage orders, documentation, and routing through the EMR. Pulmonary Testing Responsibilities • Perform high-quality spirometry (with or without pre/post‑bronchodilator), complete PFTs: lung volumes, DLCO, and peak flow. • Prepare and coach patients to obtain accurate, reproducible results; recognize suboptimal effort and technical issues. • Accurately document results and route for provider review; maintain quality-control logs. Patient care, Testing & Education Responsibilities • Provide inhaler technique training, spacer and nebulizer education, oxygen safety counseling, and preparation for respiratory testing. • Occasionally assist with in-clinic nebulizer treatments, 6‑minute walk tests, and ambulatory pulse oximetry. Equipment and Environment Responsibilities • Clean, disinfect, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain spirometry, PFT, and other respiratory equipment according to established protocols and manufacturer guidelines. • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized testing environment. • Monitor clinical supplies and help ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available when needed. Qualifications: Required • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program through CoARC or CAAHEP. • Current NBRC credential as a CRT or RRT. • Active Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner license. • Current BLS certification. • 2–5+ years of respiratory therapy experience. • Experience performing pulmonary function testing in any clinical setting. • Comfortable working independently and managing responsibilities with minimal supervision. • Dependable, professional, and committed to providing quality patient care. • Comfortable using computers and standard electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in outpatient pulmonary care, pulmonary rehabilitation, or sleep medicine. • Experience with pulmonary function testing and sleep diagnostics is a plus. • Experience with DME coordination and PAP therapy, including CPAP/BiPAP. • Familiarity with prior authorizations and insurance processes. • RPSGT certification or sleep diagnostics experience may qualify for a higher compensation range. • Bilingual skills are a plus. • ACLS certification is a plus but not required for this outpatient position. Compensation: $35 - $50 hourly
