Intern - NYC Law Scholars Program

Program Eligibility Minimum age of 18; rising senior in high school or rising freshman in college; NYC public high school student (or graduate of a NYC public high school); resident of the New York City metropolitan area; demonstrated interest in law, business, or public service. Program Summary The program is designed to introduce exceptional New York City public high school students to the legal profession through hands‑on work experience, mentorship, and direct access to leading legal and financial institutions. Interns provide basic administrative support for a variety of assignments and projects while gaining practical experience through structured training and mentorship in a team environment. Responsibilities Perform administrative duties including creating and editing documents, maintaining spreadsheets, and analyzing basic data. Research information, gather data, and prepare basic reports or analyses. Collate documents, brochures, or other materials. Prepare basic correspondence. Access document management system to update and/or create new documents as needed. Attend and participate in meetings to gain an understanding of department objectives and recent activities. Assist on special projects and assignments. Answer phones, file and respond to questions as necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. Desired Skills Solid skills in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Minimum Education NYC public high school student (or graduate of a NYC public high school). Essential Job Expectations Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties. Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence efficiently. Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product. Successfully meet deadlines and perform required work duties. Foster positive work relationships. Comply with all firm policies and practices. Engage in both physical and sedentary activities such as working at a computer and participating in meetings. Work under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast‑paced environment. Perform all other duties, tasks or projects as assigned. Physical Demands & Work Environment Primarily sedentary work.
