The Center for Inpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatry , located in Somerville. provides a transformative continuum of patient and family-centered care for diverse youth with acute behavioral health needs.

This opening is for a Registered Nurse to cover two units at Somerville Hospital, 5 East Neurodevelopment and 5 West Adolescent Psychiatry. 

The 5 West Adolescent Unit is a secured 12 bed psychiatric unit that provides care for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17. The unit is located in Somerville Hospital. This is an acute care unit, working on assessment, stabilization and after care treatment planning. We have a multidisciplinary team focused on teaching self-control, de-escalation and restraint reduction. This approach is used to provide patient and family centered care.

Cambridge Health Alliance's Child and Adolescent inpatient  Neurodevelopment Unit provides specialist assessment and care for children and adolescents who have severe mental health and neurodevelopmental needs. CHA provides services for children experiencing complex and persistent emotional and behavioral difficulties due to neurodevelopmental challenges. We care for our patients in a newly renovated secured 8-bed unit at the CHA Somerville Campus. This unit offers private rooms, communal eating and living areas, an outdoor activity space, an active sensory room, quiet ‘calming’ spaces for both individual and group play and learning.

Qualifications and Experience: 

• Current Massachusetts RN license required
• American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required
• Minimum BSN or ASN degree required. 
• 1-2 years acute inpatient psychiatric experience preferred. 
• In addition, newly hired candidates are required to successfully complete a job specific physical test
