Laundry Attendant

Share Apply Part-time $15.00 - 16.00 per hour

As a laundry attendant, your main responsibility is to maintain a constant supply of clean linens and towels for the hotel. Other responsibilities include assisting with cleaning and maintaining public areas of the hotel, assisting room/suite attendants with general cleaning of guest rooms and suites. This includes: vacuuming; shampooing of carpets; cleaning/waxing of floors; trash removal; stocking and maintaining supply rooms and other cleaning duties.

Essential Functions

65% Perform all stages of linen processing (I.e., sorting and weighing soiled and unsoiled linen, loading and unloading washers and dryers, folding and storing linen)

10% Clean laundry machinery

10% Assist in laundry inventory

10% Clean laundry area

5% Fold and store valet and laundry bags

Supportive Functions

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the requirements of the company.

• Assist co-workers, as requested

• Keep work area neat and organized

• Respond to guest requests

• Report all mechanical problems and hazardous conditions to supervisor or manager

Other Duties

Assimilate into Paramount Hospitality Management (PHM) culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements of orientation and training. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards. Regular attendance in conformance with company standards is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Safety Requirements

OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety:

• Latex and / or rubber gloves

• Dust mask

• Safety glasses

• Safety belts

• Closed toe and heel shoes with rubber soles

Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. The hotel provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly to your Manager.

Exposures: In this job, you will be exposed to cleaning chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, dust, and noise

Specific Job Knowledge, Skill & Ability

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:

• Ability to arrive to work on time and when scheduled

• Physically able to stand on feet up to 7 hours a day

• Ability to operate washer and dryer equipment

• Physically able to move/lift, large, heavy objects such as: linen, linen carts, and/or bags of linen

• Ability to communicate effectively with guests and/or team members verbally or in written form

• Ability to learn, follow and enforce standards for cleanliness as they apply to the areas assigned

• Ability to follow all safety procedures/standards and able to recognize and act in emergency
