Job Description:\n\n \n \n WOOSTER COMMUNITY HOSPITAL JOB DESCRIPTION\n Registered Nurse\n \n MAIN FUNCTION:\n Provides nursing care to patients in an efficient, professional, compassionate and caring manner. Directs the activities of paraprofessional as they provide care. Responsible for assuring effective communication with patients, support persons and members of the healthcare team. Responsible for implementing nursing care of assigned patients via the Nursing Process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Acts in compliance with hospital, Nursing Department policies/procedures and the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Ohio. Communicates changes in patient condition to physician in timely manner and suggests possible interventions and course of care as appropriate in a collaborative manner.\n Initiates, evaluates and reviews plan of care\n \n \n \n \n Provides age appropriate health teaching related to diagnosis, identified patient/family needs and medication, using available teaching resources and assuring patient family understanding by teach back\n \n \n Administers medication safely:\n \n Correctly demonstrates use of CPOE(Computer Physician Order Entry)\n Demonstrates knowledge of drug purpose and effectiveness as related to diagnosis\n Follows 6 rights of medication administration\n Demonstrates appropriate/safe medication handling/administration\n Reassesses and documents effectiveness of medication\n \n Assures team members huddle and round on patients to :\n \n Evaluate the environment to assure safety & infection control standards are met\n Evaluate the care provided to assure it is based on practice standards and evidence based practice\n Evaluate the educational plan and its implementation; assessing for and addressing gaps in care\n Evaluate for any additional /alternative care needs, and patient/family satisfaction\n Evaluate adherence to nursing practice standards of care and documentation of care by the nurse and team members\n \n \n \n Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity. Able to multitask and prioritize workload. Work habits are consistently adjusted to accommodate multiple responsibilities and are prioritized and completed in a timely manner.\n \n \n Demonstrate reasonable and rational judgment in decision making\n Other duties as assigned by management team\n \n \n Customer Service\n \n Displays positive attitude. Interact with department manager, clinical educator/instructor, to evaluate orientee/student progress toward goals, identifying additional needs.\n \n \n \n Demonstrates initiative and responsibility to develop personal, leadership and professional goals\n Demonstrate professional development by attending conferences, participating in committees/unit projects and ongoing educational activities\n \n \n Demonstrate professional growth by maintaining awareness of changes in nursing practice/evidenced based nursing care\n \n \n Accept feedback as opportunity for growth\n Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of new policies and procedures, practices, changes in practice, and initiatives. Directs the care delivered by others in AC/PAT/PACU. Assist with physicians with procedures. Prioritize care for all types of surgical patients.\n MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:\n \n ACLS within 1 year of hire, and maintain while in position\n PALS within 1 year of hire, and maintain while in position\n Minimum of 1 year critical care experience\n \n PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:\n \n Previous perioperative nursing experience\n Ability to perform phlebotomy and IV therapy\n Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and institute appropriate interventions\n \n \n OTHER REQUIREMENTS:\n \n Required to take "scheduled on call" status (PACU)\n Must be able to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes\n \n \n Cardiac Cath/Special Procedure Lab\n \n MAIN FUNCTION:\n \n Also, functions independently in the Cath Lab/Special Procedures holding room and provides nursing care in a calm, efficient manner. Admits and discharges patients. Provides pre-procedure teaching and assures physician orders are done prior to procedure. Recovers post-procedure patients according to dept policy and accurately follows physician post-procedure orders. Assists in transferring specific patients to other hospitals directly from the holding room. Provides follow-up care by phoning patients next day. Provides nursing support in other areas if needed (CT for biopsies).\n Keeps patients safe & calm while assisting physicians in cardiac cath/special procedures and related interventional procedures. Functions independently in the lab while using professional judgment in performance of services. Accurately & promptly implements physician's orders. Scrubs, circulates & records all cases done in the lab & helps to recover patients. Acts in compliance with hospital policies/procedures. Provides care to patients in a calm, efficient manner.\n \n MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:\n \n Experience in cardiovascular medications\n BLS and ACLS certification and maintain both while in this role\n For new hires into the cath lab, must be able to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes\n Other Position Expectations\n \n Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and operation of temporary pacemakers and Intra- Aortic Balloon Pumps\n 1 year experience in Interventional Cardiology\n Required to scrub, circulate and monitor patients in the cath lab\n Knowledge of coronary and peripheral anatomy\n Knowledge of coronary and peripheral blood vessels and blood flow (venous and arterial)\n Takes on-call status\n Knowledge of sterile field technique\n Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and institute appropriate interventions\n PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:\n \n 1-2 years working in an interventional cardiac/peripheral cath lab OR 5 years nursing experience in ED, PCU, or ICU.\n Cath Lab transport team experience\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Cardiac Rehab Nurse\n \n MAIN FUNCTION:\n \n Collaborates with the exercise physiologist to prescribe and monitor exercise workloads and target heart rates appropriate to each individual during each exercise session. Monitors and records vital signs during exercise sessions. Communicates effectively with the healthcare team to monitor compliance and appropriately manage symptoms. Develops teaching curriculum in conjunction with Nutrition Services, Sleep Clinic, and the exercise physiologist including lectures, videos, class participation and patient educational materials.MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:\n \n ACLS within 1 year of hire, and maintain while in position\n Ability to read and operate cardiac monitor, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms, and institute appropriate interventions\n Demonstrate knowledge and use of Vasoactive medications\n \n \n OTHER REQUIREMENTS:\n \n \n Prescribes initial target heart rates and exercise with in conjunction with exercise physiologist\n Ensures appropriate warm-up, exercise workloads, and cool down for each client\n Adjusts workloads according to observed or reported symptoms, or as requested by the exercise monitor\n Develops cardiac rehab teaching curriculum and implements lectures and materials and reviews / revises them every three months\n \n \n \n Cardiovascular Services Registered Nurse\n \n MAIN FUNCTION:\n \n Provides nursing care to inpatients and outpatients in the Cardiovascular Services Department by working within the nursing process in an efficient, professional, compassionate and caring manner.
