Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic plays a key role in ensuring that production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This position focuses on mechanical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and the repair of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems to support achievement of production schedules, quality standards, product cost targets, and department expense goals.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage maintenance activities to support production schedules, quality objectives, product cost targets, and department expense goals.
• Manage labor resources within the Maintenance department, including Maintenance Mechanics, Machine Cleaners, and Tool Room Attendants, to ensure equipment is functional, clean, and meets production and safety requirements.
• Monitor the effectiveness of processes and equipment, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work closely with peers on other shifts and in other departments to resolve conflicts, identify root causes of equipment and process issues, and implement and document corrective actions.
• Ensure strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), allergen control protocols, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements.
• Oversee food safety tasks related to foreign material control, sanitation, critical control point operation, GMP compliance, and proper storage practices.
• Support implementation and ongoing maintenance of SQF food safety systems by overseeing designated tasks and procedures.
• Monitor production schedules and allocate department resources, including labor and equipment, to ensure sufficient support for meeting production goals; participate in production scheduling and planning as needed.
• Perform employment-related functions such as interviewing candidates, conducting corrective action counseling, and monitoring pay-for-skills programs.
• Identify employees with leadership potential and complete annual performance appraisals, reviewing them with team members to support development and accountability.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Reading, PA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Reading,PA.
