Details Med/Surg Oncology unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with all subtypes of solid tumor cancers, including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers Cares for patients throughout the cancer journey, from new diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life care Provides true med surg care with a heavy focus on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols Staffing ratio goal is 1:4 but can be up to 1:5 Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:30) and Night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:30) available Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs with no set/blocked scheduling Floating required to other MedSurg Oncology units Uses Epic for charting Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required at time of submission BLS certification required ONS Chemo certification preferred 2 years of current acute care experience required, consistently worked within the last 12 months and in the specialty being applied to Oncology experience preferred but not required Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and central line blood draws required Experience accessing and managing ports and administering chemotherapy preferred Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and dysrhythmia management required Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE required Tracheostomy care/management preferred Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable for the second reference; coworker references not accepted Additional Information Come with a willingness to learn and grow your nursing practice Previous travel experience preferred but not required, and first-time travelers are welcome to apply Locals accepted at the same rate Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once away from the facility for 6 months or more Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler RTO required at time of submission and must be built into contract, limited to 7 days or less Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting as soon as they sign their contract, with urgency due to state requirements American Traveler Job ID P-738689.
