Job Title: Crane Operator Job Description

As a Crane Operator, you will be responsible for handling and transporting steel bundles within our forge warehouse. You will ensure all materials are accurately tagged and report any discrepancies or safety concerns to your supervisor. Your role involves collaborating with team members, maintaining work area cleanliness, and adhering to all safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Safely remove steel bundles from incoming trucks and place them in designated storage bins.

• Transport steel bundles between storage bins and shear machines.

• Verify each bundle's tags for part number, heat code, customer name, and weight.

• Report any safety concerns or discrepancies immediately.

• Safely dispose of slug buckets from shears in appropriate receptacles.

• Place full racks from conveyor lines in designated areas.

• Verify heat codes to maintain integrity.

• Remove Upsetter tooling from die carts and place them appropriately.

• Scrap excess tags during heat changes, length changes, or job changes.

• Collaborate with the helper on required duties.

• Ensure bundle color codes face the walkway.

• Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.

• Follow all safety and plant rules and regulations.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• 1+ years experience in a manufacturing environment.

• 1+ years experience operating cranes/overhead.

• Ability to consistently lift 50 lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in forklift operation, tow motor, and steel manufacturing.

• Experience with machine operating, inspection, and troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of gages, calipers, micrometers, and blueprint reading.

• Experience in machine setup, press brake, fabrication, and general labor.

Work Environment

This position is within a heavy industrial forging environment, which is not temperature controlled. Candidates must be open to all shifts, with potential additional compensation for 2nd and 3rd shifts. Overtime is available for work exceeding 8 hours. The work involves operating in a unionized setting, providing stability and opportunities for advancement.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.11 - $25.10/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
