Duties include technical support, evaluation of Quality Control, coordinating and providing technical training and orientation, maintenance of policies and procedures, and new software evaluation and implementation as needed. In addition, the Senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Informatics assumes responsibility for the laboratory in the absence of the Laboratory Director, the Laboratory Assistant Director, and the Laboratory Supervisor. Technical Interacts with Laboratory and ITSG for project development and problem resolution Directs the maintenance/development of data dictionaries, charge and revenue tables, test tables, reports, interfaces, and revisions in the LIS and APS Troubleshoots unexpected problems with the LIS / BBS utilizing ITSG support as necessary Retrieves patient results from archived medical records Coordinates orientation of laboratory staff, other department users, and physician offices in the use of the LIS, APS and BBS Non-Technical Communicates with laboratory staff, nursing staff, and physicians concerning any deviations regarding testing and reporting of results Takes sick calls and assists in replacement of staff when necessary Attends required meetings as instructed by the Laboratory Director Assists with regulatory inspections as necessary Transports specimens and supplies between the main Medical Center lab and satellite locations Adds support to other Laboratory staff as needed Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge Knowledge of HIS/LIS/APS software data base Knowledge of departmental and Medical Center policies and procedures that support the provision of service Demonstrates knowledge regarding special needs and behaviors of age specific groups and proficiency in required area Skills Skill needed for database management Strong analytical and problem -solving skills Abilities Ability to operate Medical Center and Laboratory Information Systems Ability to exhibit courteous, helpful and professional behavior in dealing with patients, public and peers AVMC Values Patients Come First – We listen actively and communicate with our patients and families, placing safety as a top priority. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Must be able to perform duties in a normal Medical Center clinical laboratory environment, which includes exposure to chemicals, biohazards, handling of biological specimens, and use of PPE. Must be able to stand and walk for transportation of specimens and supplies. May require extended periods of sitting and data entry. Requires frequent lifting of less than 10 lbs., with occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. Requirements Education Bachelor's degree that will satisfy the requirements for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the State of California Department of Public Health Experience Knowledge generally acquired through three years of general clinical laboratory experience Minimum of one year’s experience in informatics is preferable Minimum of one year’s experience at an acute care hospital is desirable Required Licensure and/or Certifications Possession of a current Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the State of California Department of Public Health #J-18808-Ljbffr Antelope Valley Medical Center
