Staff Nurse- Stead Family Children's Operating Room Weekend Option 60%

Qualified candidates are eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $10,000. The Stead Family Children's Hospital Operating Room is seeking a Staff Nurse to apply nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness. This position adheres to the standard weekend option schedule of rotating, 12-hour shifts. Characteristic duties of our staff nurses include but are not limited to: applying nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness; assessing patient health care preferences and expectations; collaboratively coordinating the continuum of care across settings; developing patient care plans based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribe interventions to attain expected outcomes; implementing patient care plans according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses; documenting/reporting interventions and patient/family response; collaborating and integrating contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plans; developing, coordinating, and implementing transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care; implementing nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff; and following universal precautions.

Percent of Time: 60% Schedule: Weekend option line rotating 12-hour shifts, hours variable based on unit needs. Pay Grade: $37,070 to commensurate. This does not include inpatient differential of $6,000 annually or an OR differential of $6,000 annually. Some shifts scheduled in this position may also be eligible for a shift differential. Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Inpatient differentials up to $6,000 per year (at 60% effort). Required qualifications: an associate's degree in nursing, a diploma in nursing, a baccalaureate degree in nursing, professional masters of nursing and healthcare practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a master's degree in nursing (MSN, MA) is required; demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions; general computer skills are required; current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire; excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Desirable qualifications: baccalaureate degree in nursing or master's degree in nursing is highly desired; one year or more of operating room experience in the scrub and circulating staff nurse role; if baccalaureate degree in nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable; knowledge of university policies and procedures is desired; two years recent OR experience preferred.
