Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled Lead Outdoor Living Carpenter to join our team. In this role, you will lead and execute complex, high-end residential outdoor living projects, including custom decks, pergolas, shade structures, and outdoor living spaces. With a strong emphasis on craftsmanship, structural integrity, and team leadership.

Position Highlights

• Job Title: Lead Outdoor Living Carpenter / Crew Leader
• Pay Range: $28.00 - $36.00 per hour (based on experience and skill)
• Job Type: Full-Time (Monday to Friday, ~40 hours/week, occasional overtime)
• Minimum Experience Required: 5+ years in residential carpentry / outdoor construction
• Location: On-site / El Paso County & surrounding areas

Key Responsibilities

• Craftsmanship & Construction: Build high-end custom decks, pergolas, shade structures, and outdoor living amenities according to architectural plans, specifications, and building codes.
• Crew Leadership: Direct daily site operations and delegate tasks to crew members.
• Project & Site Management: Read and interpret construction blueprints/drawings, perform accurate layout work, manage material usage efficiently, and ensure projects stay on schedule.
• Quality Control & Problem Solving: Inspect ongoing work for precision and safety; proactively troubleshoot and resolve structural or job site challenges.
• Client & Team Communication: Maintain professional, clear communication with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and team members via phone, text, and in-person interactions.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce job site safety standards, oversee proper usage of power and hand tools, and maintain an organized, clean work environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional carpentry experience, with a heavy emphasis on residential outdoor construction (decks, framing, timber framing, composite decking).
• Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency with hand and power tools, framing techniques, and material selection (composite, hardwood, pressure-treated lumber).
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, direct, and mentor junior crew members with a positive, constructive attitude.
• Physical Capabilities: Physically able to perform heavy construction work, lift 50+ lbs consistently, and comfortably work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions.
• Communication & Work Ethic: Excellent text/phone communication skills, self-motivated, trustworthy, punctual, and able to take direction as well as give clear instructions.
• Background & Driving Requirements: Valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), reliable transportation, and ability to pass a clean background check.
