divh2Radiology Technologist - Casual/h2pProduces radiographs of various anatomical parts and systems for diagnostic purposes as directed by the radiologist./ppstrongEssential Job Functions/strong/pulliCollects pertinent data about the patient and procedure./liliReconfirms patients identification and verifies the physicians order./liliReviews the patients chart and/or the physicians order to determine the optimal imaging procedure for suspected pathology./liliVerifies the patients pregnancy status when appropriate./liliProvide information to the patient about the procedure./liliVerifies the patient has consented to the procedure and answers any questions./liliProvides accurate explanations and instructions at an appropriate time and at a level the patient can understand./liliInstructs patient regarding preparation prior to imaging procedures including allergic reactions./liliAnalyzes the information obtained during assessment phase and determines optimal imaging parameters per diagnosis./liliDetermines whether patient has been appropriately prepared for procedure./liliAssesses factors that may contraindicate procedures such as medications or insufficient patient preparation./liliSelects appropriate shielding and positioning devices./liliAdministers contrast agents according to established guidelines (if applicable)/liliObtains written consent prior to IV contrast administration./liliEvaluates lab values prior to administering contrast agents./liliDetermines appropriate type and dose of contrast agent to be administered./liliMonitors patient during exam for adverse reaction to contrast media./liliObtains optimum images during exam/procedure./liliSets/adjusts radiographic equipment./liliPositions patients to obtain diagnostic images per established protocols./liliSends images to PACS for interpretation by radiologist (where applicable)./liliDocuments information about patient care, exam, and patient history in appropriate record (where applicable)./liliVerifies/enters correct order into RIS/HIS/liliDocuments appropriate patient history in PACS system./liliDocuments any exceptions to the established guidelines./liliScans appropriate documents into PACS system./liliFacilitates correspondence with all departments to assure procedures are done promptly (where applicable)./liliWorks with Centralized Scheduling, nursing units, and ER (if applicable) to accommodate STAT or ASAP orders./liliCoordinates patient care with other departments within Imaging/radiology/liliMaintains equipment and workstation in optimum condition./liliPerforms daily QC on radiographic equipment./liliAssure adequate patient care and office supplies are maintained./liliImplements downtime procedures when necessary (where applicable)./liliCoordinates rescheduling of patients during equipment downtime./liliInitiates established downtime procedures./liliOther duties as assigned./li/ulpstrongCompetency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]/strong/ppstrongRequired Qualifications/Experience/strong/pulliCompletion of a (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology Program recognized by the ARRT./liliStrong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice./liliStrong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience./li/ulpstrongPreferred Qualifications/Experience/strong/pulliExperience in Healthcare setting./li/ulpstrongLicense, Certification Clearances/strong/pulliCurrent Registry with the ARRT or must obtain within 90 days of hire or transfer/liliCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program./liliAct 33 with renewal/liliAct 34 with renewal/liliAct 73 with renewal/li/ulpstrongPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work/strong/pulliIncumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.)./liliTravel may be expected locally between System locations./li/ulpstrongEqual Employment Opportunity/strong/ppIndependence Health and its affiliated companies are Equal Opportunity Employers.
