Job Title: Assistant Manager, Store (530) – Retail Dept Number: Varies – Retail Job Summary The Assistant Manager, Store, will manage daily operations, support the Retail Store Manager, and ensure the store meets financial goals, customer service standards, and community impact objectives. Essential Functions Work closely with the Retail Store Manager to achieve goals and increase sales and donations. Recommend changes to operational procedures to maximize expense‑to‑revenue ratios. Promote safety for all employees and maintain OSHA and CARF compliance. Be certified on pallet jack, walkie stacker, forklift, hand dolly, or other equipment to train staff and maintain safety. Stay aware of competition and retail trends and suggest appropriate actions. Maintain strong knowledge of the point‑of‑sale (POS) system. Empower, lead, and manage retail staff, ensuring safety, productivity, and success. Oversee daily operations of all retail store functional areas including sales floor, store front, donation store, production areas, and storage facilities. Manage hiring, performance, goal setting, and potential termination for at least one department. Adhere to Goodwill policies and all supplemental policies. Partner with the Retail Store Manager to conduct employee training and knowledge transfer meetings. Be on call for alarm notifications after hours. Perform additional duties as required. Bench Store Assistant Manager Provide coverage for unexpected or planned absences. Facilitate growth and training for team members. Collaborate with other management personnel to enhance store performance and business development. Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred. Experience: At least 2 years supervising retail operations or similar, with accountability for business and financial results. Other Requirements Proficient with office equipment, Word, Excel, and web applications such as UKG. Manage corporate email and calendar using Outlook. Organize multiple projects and retail functions. Work within a deadline‑pressured environment. Understand marketing and retail principles. Understand production processes and quality control. Interpret and analyze statistical and financial data. Adapt to changing circumstances and make difficult decisions. Train, develop, and recognize talent and leadership. Communicate effectively in verbal and written forms. Show empathy for people with disabilities and disadvantages. Obtain walkie stacker and/or forklift certification. Move to other stores within the assigned region as needed. Work varied schedules including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must be ready to provide complete store coverage in coordination with the Retail Store Manager. Preferred ability to drive for company business. Physical Requirements Continuously (5‑8 hours) Frequently (3‑4 hours) Occasionally (1‑2 hours) Never Heavy lifting (45 lbs+): occasionally. Moderate (15‑44 lbs): occasionally. Light (14 lbs or less): frequently. Tasks include moving, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, bending, kneeling, crawling, and squatting as described in detail.
