We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Painter to work at the National Training and Weapons Lab (NTWL) Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD. This onsite position requires the painter to prepare and apply paint to aircraft, support equipment, and allied component surfaces, while maintaining a professional appearance and working flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and detachments ashore or shipboard. NOTE: This is an onsite position at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD. Job Summary The Aircraft Painter will prepare, paint, and finish various surfaces on aircraft and related equipment, ensuring proper coating, surface preparation, and application of paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other materials. Responsibilities Prepare and paint aircraft, support equipment, and allied component surfaces. Coat surfaces with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices. Remove old paint using liquid paint remover and scraper. Smooth surfaces with sandpaper and steel wool. Roughen aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure paint adhesion. Mask and cover portions of surfaces not to be painted. Paint insignia, letters, or numerals on aircraft surfaces using stencils. Education High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of specialized courses in aircraft painting is a plus. Experience Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the preparation and painting of aircraft, support equipment, and allied component surfaces. Personnel within this classification must be specialized in one or more of the following SCA occupational codes: 23740 Painter, Aircraft 05310 Automotive PainterAND Personnel within this classification must have taken one or more of the following courses: Aircraft Paint Touch Up and Markings Course (Course N-701-0014) Aircraft Paint/Finish Course (Course C-600-3182) AND Citizenship and Location U.S. citizenship is required.
