This Opportunity: The Licensed Veterinary Technician will coordinate with our DVMs to ensure world class animal care during appointments, surgeries, and all aspects of treatment procedures. They will collaborate with support staff to ensure patient and client needs and expectations are met. Reporting and Supervision: This position reports to the Medical Director. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Surgery preparation, with pre- and post-operative care Administering anesthesia and patient monitoring Dental cleanings and dental procedures ER - Hospitalized & triage emergency patient nursing, and laboratory testing. Assisting veterinarians with animal care during appointments, surgeries, emergency visits, and all aspects of treatment procedures Communicating clearly with the doctors, support staff, and clients Supporting the team with maintaining inventory and medical records Other Key Job Aspects Dental cleanings and dental procedures Administering anesthesia and patient monitoring Hospitalized & triage emergency patient nursing, and laboratory testing. Compassionate, enthusiastic, reliable, and a team player Excellent verbal & written communication skills Flexible to work weekdays, weekends and some holidays to support hospital operations. Reliable transportation to and from work Ability to lift a minimum of 20lbs; physical demands include walking, bending/kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repeated hand and arms movements. Must be at least 18 years or older. Must be licensed in the state of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician (LVT)- or with license pending! Must be authorized to work in the United States. Schedule/Availability: Full-time employees are scheduled to work three 12-hour shifts per week and up to every other weekend. Columbia Pike Animal Hospital is a 24/7 facility.
