Histotechnologist I

Abbott seeks a Histotechnologist I to perform specimen sectioning, staining, and quality control in a diagnostic laboratory setting. The role involves skilled microscopy work, reagent preparation, and collaboration with pathologists and external customers in Redwood City on an evening shift.
Responsibilities
- Perform specimen sectioning, H&E staining, and macro-dissection under supervision
- Maintain quality standards and communicate issues to management
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and controls; perform equipment maintenance
- Process workflow queues and assist with specimen returns
- Interact with pathologists, internal staff, and external customers to ensure timely processing
Requirements
- Associate degree minimum; bachelor's in biological or life sciences preferred
- 2+ years histology laboratory experience with microtomy, embedding, and staining
- ASCP certification (HT or HTL) preferred
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Proficiency with microscopes, microtomes, and laboratory equipment
- Strong attention to detail and quality focus
- Ability to lift 25 pounds and work extended periods using lab tools
Compensation: $25.00–$50.00/hour
