Nocturnist Nurse Practitioner Newborn Nursery and Inpatient Pediatrics Hackensack Meridian Health Jersey Shore University Medical Center Neptune City, New Jersey Hackensack Meridian Health /K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital is seeking a highly motivated Nocturnist Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic Pediatric Hospital Medicine team. In this role, you will serve as the primary advanced practice provider overnight for our high-volume Newborn Nursery. You will enjoy a collaborative, supportive culture working alongside pediatric residents, in-house neonatologists, and on-call pediatric hospitalists, all while maintaining a fantastic work-life balance with our 10-hour shift model. RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the Night: Serve as the primary overnight APP, managing a busy census of well newborns, late preterm infants, and babies requiring close monitoring. Provide Hands-On Care: Perform comprehensive admissions, daily assessments, and manage common newborn conditions (jaundice, hypoglycemia, feeding difficulties, etc.). Collaborate & Mentor : Work closely with our multidisciplinary team and help guide pediatric residents. Flex Your Skills: When the nursery census is low, step in to support the inpatient pediatric unit with admissions, consults, and acute care management. Empower Families: Provide compassionate, family-centered care and parental education on newborn safety, feeding, and follow-up plans. REQUIREMENTS: Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Licensure: Current NJ RN and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) licenses, plus CDS and DEA registration. Certification: Board Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). Life Support: Current BLS, NRP, PALS, and ACLS certifications. Experience: Strong clinical judgment, excellent independent decision-making skills, and a passion for evidence-based pediatric care. COMPENSATION: Minimum Starting Base Salary : $149,177.60 Annually HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members.
