HR Coordinator Job SummaryThe Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for providing exceptional service to all employees; this position remains the main point of contact for all teammates at the plant location. The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for following and implementing all HR functions, policies, and procedures. This position will support the Corporate Human Resources Department in all day-to-day operations including: payroll, benefits, recruitment, wellness, teammate relations, communication, safety and all other duties as assigned.Duties and Responsibilities1. Payroll – Responsible for processing payroll for hourly teammates and truck driversTimely completion of all new hire documentation, including attachment in HR systemWeekly timecard review and submittal along with any training and transfer pay.Completion of status change forms, review of pay changes, accuracy of positions/shifts, and PTO payout,Review and weekly posting of attendance points for teammates.Teammate termination process2. Recruitment – Responsible for hiring, onboarding, and orientation of new teammates to ensure the facility is fully staffedAdvertise open positions appropriatelySource and screen qualified applicantsSchedules all pre-employment screening for candidatesCompletes new hire onboarding and orientationTrack recruitment progress and costs for all plant staff openings3. Benefits – Responsible for the administration of all benefits enrollment.Supports and assists benefits enrollment, changes, and issues, especially during open enrollmentMonitor and assist teammates in new hire and qualifying Life Events completion.Works with corporate HR to answer questions and resolve problems, as neededMaintains basic knowledge and understanding of benefits, FMLA, COBRA, qualifying events, etc.4. Wellness – Responsible for administering wellness initiatives for teammates at the facilityInforms teammates of wellness incentivesCommunicates and encourages participation in company wellness challengesManages spring wellness screenings for the entire plant facilityEnsure wellness screening enrollment is completed timely for new hires5. Teammate Relations – Responsible for supporting teammates and plant management in resolving teammate relations issues and assisting in conflict resolutionField teammate complaints and work to resolve issues to the extent possibleProperly document corrective actions, including attaching signed corrective actions in the HR systemCommunicate and work with corporate HR and Legal to resolve teammate relation issues that are complex or have legal risk considerations6. Communication – Responsible for actively listening and communicating with plant management, teammate, Safety, Corporate HR, and Legal.Help teammates understand policies, procedures, and cultureBe available to teammates for questions, including periodically for off-shiftsCommunicate with Corporate HR – teammates on leave, questions, issues, concerns, policy exception requests, abuse of policies, compliance concerns, challenges, etc.Communicate and distribute information as requested by Corporate HR, Safety, and Legal7. Safety – Supports plant leadership to ensure all safety policies and procedures are being implemented and followedAssists safety coordinator with incident investigationsAs needed, assist safety coordinator when logging safety records for teammates safety training and safety rewards activitiesReports and follows up on all Worker's Compensation claims8. General HR AdministrationMaintain accurate teammate information in the HR systemReview and ensure completion of hourly performance appraisals, including attaching in the HR systemAccurate and timely entry of teammate termination, including attaching separation form in the HR systemKeep legal notice postings up to dateServes as back-up Office Assistant as required9. Two to three years' experience in the Human Resources field is required, as well as knowledge of the basic Human Resource functions and the laws. Formal education may be substituted with company or Human Resource experience and training when competency in the position is demonstrated.Working Conditions:This work is predominantly performed in an office setting with minimal to moderate noise due to computers, printers, and people. Occasionally, work will be performed in a manufacturing setting with moderate to high levels of noise due to machinery and equipment. The temperature of the facility will vary based on outside weather conditions. The use of personal protective equipment for safety compliance may be required as deemed necessary by management.Steel Technologies is a safety-sensitive workplace.
