Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery

The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides specialized nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum. This role involves patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective maternal and neonatal care. The nurse must demonstrate strong clinical skills, communication, and teamwork in a fast-paced acute care setting. Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being using appropriate clinical tools and technology.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families throughout the childbirth process.
• Document all nursing care and patient responses accurately in the Epic electronic medical record system.
• Adhere to facility policies and procedures to maintain patient safety and quality care standards.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist in emergency situations and support neonatal resuscitation as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper handling of equipment and supplies.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; first-time labor and delivery nurses accepted.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records, specifically Epic.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.

• Experience in labor and delivery or maternal-child health nursing.
• Intermediate clinical skills as determined by facility standards.
• Familiarity with Level IV trauma and critical access hospital protocols.

• No on-call requirements.
• Weekend work is required.
• Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is expected.
• Facility is a Level IV Trauma and Critical Access Hospital with acute care and long-term care beds.
• Parking is free for staff.
• Housing is provided with restrictions: no pets allowed, typically single occupancy, cleaning required upon departure.
• Travelers can be called off for one 12-hour shift per two-week period.
• Scrub color is flexible: any or business casual attire allowed.

• Work schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts per week (variable schedule).
• Guaranteed 60 hours every two weeks.
• Block scheduling accommodations are not available.
• Return to office (RTO) restrictions apply based on request.
