This is a contract job opportunity with potential for perm. Location: Mobile, AL. Schedule: 2nd shift 12pm-8:30pm M-F. Rotate every other weekend. Projected duration: 3 months + potential for perm. Job code: CVDJP00035350. Benefits are available.

Requires experience with pediatric to geriatric and difficult patients.

Overview:

A phlebotomists primary role is to assist in a variety of assigned tasks, provide training, and offer suggestions for improving workflow.

Responsibilities:

Ability to perform blood draws, correctly label specimens, centrifuge samples, document maintenance activities, update patient records, and more. Ensure proper collection and storage of specimens based on established protocols. Clearly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures to patients. Demonstrate proficiency in using straight needles and butterfly needles. Thoroughly understand and follow physicians orders regarding specimen testing. Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes, label and handle specimens correctly as per test orders. Package specimens for transportation in adherence with guidelines. Store and label specimen samples correctly to maintain integrity during transport. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attend annual department trainings. Answer phone inquiries and provide laboratory results as needed.

Qualifications:

Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment where required. At least 6 months of experience with venipunctures in a fast-paced medical setting. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 1-2 years of experience.
