We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician III to support a highly automated manufacturing operation. This position is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, corrective and preventive maintenance, equipment improvements, and supporting production uptime across multiple manufacturing processes.

Shift: 3rd Shift
Facility: Climate-controlled manufacturing environment (HVAC)

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician III serves as a technical expert responsible for diagnosing, repairing, modifying, and maintaining manufacturing equipment and support systems. This role focuses on maximizing equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across production operations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive industrial maintenance experience, strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities, and experience working with automated manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated equipment.
• Diagnose equipment failures using observation, testing instruments, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Repair or replace defective components to restore equipment performance.
• Perform preventative maintenance activities according to established schedules.
• Document repairs, root causes, and corrective actions within the CMMS system.

Automation & Controls

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair automated equipment, robots, PLCs, servo systems, and variable frequency drives.
• Support machine startups, upgrades, and automation projects.
• Assist with equipment programming and control system troubleshooting.

Continuous Improvement

• Lead machine modifications and reliability improvement projects.
• Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and increase equipment performance.
• Support Kaizen, corrective action, and preventative action initiatives.
• Assist in developing maintenance procedures, PM schedules, and equipment checklists.

Fabrication & Mechanical Work

• Perform equipment fabrication and repair using MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.
• Operate machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools.
• Fabricate and modify parts as required to support maintenance activities.

Technical Leadership

• Train and mentor maintenance technicians and new employees.
• Provide technical guidance on machine operation, troubleshooting, and repair techniques.
• Coordinate with production teams, vendors, and engineering personnel to resolve equipment issues.
• Assist with purchasing maintenance parts, services, and equipment.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety policies, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions or potential equipment failures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Technical degree, certificate, apprenticeship, or equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
• 10+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• 8+ years of experience performing corrective and preventative maintenance on production equipment.

• Strong troubleshooting experience with:

• Ability to read and interpret:

  • Hydraulic diagrams
  • Pneumatic schematics
  • Mechanical drawings
  • Equipment manuals
• Experience with PLCs, servo motors, VFDs, and automation systems.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Strong understanding of industrial safety standards and LOTO procedures.

Problem Solving

• Ability to diagnose complex equipment failures and implement lasting solutions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with any of the following is highly preferred:

• Injection molding equipment
• Blow molding equipment
• Compression molding equipment
• Rotational molding equipment
• Industrial robots (Star, Yushin, or similar)
• Automated material handling systems
• Forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift certification
• CMMS software systems

Physical Requirements

This position requires:

• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting throughout the shift.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Working around moving machinery and industrial equipment.
• Exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and manufacturing environments.
• Use of required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe footwear, gloves, hard hats, and face shields as required.
