General Manager

Paris Baguette Journal Square is seeking an experienced, motivated and hands-on General Manager to lead our bakery café. This position is ideal for a dynamic leader who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment and is passionate about developing employees, building strong teams and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of café operations, including financial performance, staffing, training, customer service, food and beverage quality, inventory, equipment, facility management, catering growth and regulatory compliance. The General Manager will provide leadership and direction to the café team while supporting Paris Baguette’s mission, values and operating standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial and Business Performance

• Develop and monitor operating budgets, financial plans and sales and marketing initiatives.
• Review weekly and monthly P&L statements and implement action plans to increase revenue and control expenses.
• Manage labor costs, food costs, inventory, waste and other operating expenses.
• Analyze financial and operational performance and take corrective action when goals are not being met.
• Increase catering revenue through measurable sales initiatives and local business development.
• Work toward meeting or exceeding the café’s annual sales and profitability goals.

Daily Café Operations

• Manage all day-to-day bakery café operations.
• Prepare employee schedules, organize daily work and communicate performance expectations.
• Oversee food, beverage, equipment, property and facility operations.
• Maintain Paris Baguette standards for product quality, presentation, cleanliness and customer service.
• Monitor the café’s appearance and resolve maintenance or operational problems promptly.
• Ensure employees follow all company policies, procedures and quality-control standards.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and oversee ordering, receiving and waste control.

Team Leadership and Development

• Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train and retain café management and team members.
• Lead and motivate employees to consistently deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance.
• Conduct coaching sessions, performance reviews and corrective actions when necessary.
• Identify development opportunities and support employees’ long-term career growth.
• Conduct regular management meetings to review results, communicate priorities and establish action plans.
• Foster teamwork, open communication, strong morale and a respectful workplace.
• Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues appropriately.

Training and Compliance

• Ensure employees are properly trained in customer service, food and beverage operations, loss prevention, food safety, workplace safety and company standards.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable food-safety, occupational health and safety regulations.
• Create a workplace where employee and customer safety come first.
• Ensure the café is prepared for health inspections and Paris Baguette operational audits.
• Obtain certification in the Paris Baguette-designated food-safety program within 30 days of employment.

Guest Experience

• Maintain consistently high standards for customer service, food quality and beverage execution.
• Ensure customer complaints are handled promptly and professionally.
• Provide appropriate service recovery to achieve complete guest satisfaction.
• Use customer feedback and operating results to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Create a warm, welcoming and community-focused bakery café experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two to three years of general management or progressive management experience with direct staff supervision.
• Management experience in a bakery, café, restaurant, food-service, hospitality or retail environment strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of P&L management, budgeting, labor control, food costs and sales development.
• Experience recruiting, training, scheduling, coaching and managing employees.
• Working knowledge of POS systems, inventory procedures and cash controls.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Food Safety Manager certification preferred; required certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• High emotional intelligence and the ability to lead and support a diverse team.
• Hands-on, adaptable, dependable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays according to business needs.
• Must be able to work extended days when necessary to support café operations.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary of $65,000–$80,000, based on qualifications and experience.
