Industrial Electrical Maintenance TechnicianJoin our growing team responsible for maintaining and improving heavy steel processing equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and improving electrical and automated systems that support critical production operations. The successful candidate is a self-driven industrial electrician who enjoys solving complex problems, minimizing downtime, working alongside other techs, and operators, and improving equipment reliability.What We're Looking ForA technician who takes ownership of equipment reliability, works safely, collaborates across departments, and is motivated to continuously improve aging production equipment rather than simply repairing failures.Primary ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot and repair 480V three-phase power distribution, motor controls, MCCs, transformers, relays, contactors, overloads, and control circuits.Diagnose and maintain VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, HMIs, sensors, safety relays, scanners, light curtains, and interlock systems.Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and OEM info.Ability to replace parts and find replacements as needed in our inventory databases.Perform preventive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime.Support mechanical technicians during repairs including motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics…Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.Participate in equipment upgrades, automation improvements, and capital projects.Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and communicate effectively across.Ability to use a computer to write daily reports, respond to e-mails, and search for partsAbility to properly size circuit conductors, circuit protector devices, ability to run conduit if needed, install electrical equipment, wire and unwire equipment as neededResponsible for proper care/cleanliness of tools, parts, materials and work area.Responsible for providing coverage in the absence of other Maintenance Technicians.Qualifications5-10 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience preferred.Experience in steel processing, stamping, or heavy manufacturing preferred.Strong troubleshooting ability with PLC-controlled equipment (mostly Allen-Bradley).Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, and Lockout/Tagout.Industrial electrical training, apprenticeship, technical school, or equivalent experience.Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, email and job related internet research.What You'll Be Working OnSteel processing and slitting equipmentHeavy-duty motors, pumps, conveyorsHydraulic and pneumatic systems480V three-phase power distributionMotor Control Centers and Power Distribution PanelsAC/DC motors and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)PLC-controlled equipment, diverse HMIs, and older relay controlsSensors, safety relays, scanners, and light curtainsIndustrial automation projects, and upgradesUse of hay bay cranes, and other bigger machineryWhat Makes Someone Successful HereWe are looking for technicians who: • Enjoy troubleshooting more than replacing parts. • Naturally ask 'Why did it fail?' • Take ownership of equipment reliability. • Can work independently while supporting the team. • Value safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement. • Stay calm under production pressure and communicate effectively.Physical Requirements• Job performance demands constant application of the following physical requirements: use of hands.• Job performance demands frequent application of the following physical requirements: lifting (Avg. 20 lbs), walking, standing, bending, fine manipulation, close visual acuity, near/far vision, upper limb coordination, multiple limb coordination• Job performance demands occasional application of the following physical requirements: lifting (Max. 80 lbs.), carrying, sitting, reaching, overhead reaching/lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, twisting, climbing, balancing, foot controls, driving, total visual field.• Be able and willing to work in non-ideal environments such as: tight spaces, working at heights, dusty/dirty areas, around heavy machinery, and wear hard-hats and ear-plugs.Career Path• Electrical Maintenance Technician I • Electrical Maintenance Technician II • Senior Electrical Maintenance Technician. • Lead Electrical Maintenance TechnicianBenefitsExcellent benefits include medical with a standard PPO plan with deductibles as low as $1,500 and wellness credit up to $750; voluntary 401k plan deduction up to 12% with varying company match per quarter; voluntary dental and vision plans; telemedicine services; basic life and short-term disability coverage.We are all in for change.
