First Response Chimney Sweeps & Services is a licensed, insured contractor serving Virginia and West Virginia. We handle chimney, hearth and roofing work from start to finish: we sweep, repair, rebuild, reline, and install fireplaces, stoves and inserts. Our showroom on North Royal Ave in Front Royal has about 40 fireplaces and stoves on display, and our crews install what our customers pick out there.

We're growing quickly and we need tradespeople who want a career, not just a job.

The opportunity

We're looking for roofers and construction pros with strong framing skills . We'll pay you while we cross-train you as fireplace and hearth installers. If you're comfortable working on a roof, know how to frame a chase, and like doing finished work that customers see every day, we'll teach you the rest. That includes gas and wood-burning appliance installs, venting and chimney systems, inserts, and surrounds.

This role is for someone who wants to learn a specialized trade that pays well and is hard to outsource.

What you'll do

• Frame chases, fireplace enclosures, hearth platforms and wall openings
• Do roofing and flashing work around chimneys, chases and vent penetrations
• Install gas and wood fireplaces, stoves, inserts and venting systems to manufacturer specs and code
• Run basic electrical for blowers, switches, remotes and power to units (training provided)
• Finish surrounds, mantels and trim to a showroom-quality standard
• Keep job sites clean, protect customers' homes, and treat every house like your own
• Follow our internal quality-check process on every job

Positions available

Apprentice / Installer Trainee
Salary $40,000-$50,000 + performance commission

• 1+ year in roofing, framing or general construction
• Can safely work at heights and on ladders
• Shows up on time and wants to learn a trade
• Full training provided, with a clear path to Installer and Crew Lead

Crew Lead
Salary$50,000 - $65,000 + performance commission

• 3+ years in roofing, framing or general construction
• Can run a 2–3 person crew on site, read plans and specs, and finish jobs to standard without supervision
• Talks with homeowners professionally
• Hearth experience is a plus but not required. We'll train you.

Supervisor
Salary $65,000-$80,000 + performance commission

• 5+ years in construction, with experience leading crews or multiple job sites
• Oversees several crews, quality checks, scheduling support and technician development
• Strong problem-solver who holds high standards and knows how to teach
• Hearth or chimney experience is a strong plus

What we're looking for

• Framing experience (required)
• General construction and carpentry skills
• Roofing experience (steep-slope and metal is a plus)
• Some electrical knowledge helps (low-voltage and basic wiring)
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
• Your own basic hand tools
• Pride in clean, careful, detailed work
• Certifications such as NFI or CSIA are a plus. We'll help you earn them.
