FLSA Status: Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: Employee must be a naturally persuasive, creative problem solver who thrives inan upbeat environment with non-standard and varied working hours. A self-motivated,enthusiastic, goal-oriented individual with superior presentation,organizational, and interpersonal skills and will have demonstrated ability tofollow direction, problem solve, manage multiple priorities and meet goals.This is a sales-like admissions and prospect management approach to adesignated recruitment territory in an environment where recruiters areresponsible for reaching enrollment and net revenue goals assigned tothem. Daily responsibilities includecommunication with a large number of prospective students through heavy phoneoutreach. Personal e-mails, notes, individual appointments, and grouppresentations are also expected. Thisposition will involve the planning of prospective student recruitmentactivities, extensive outreach and travel. The SeniorAssistant Director serves as a representative of Duquesne University at bothon- and off-campus recruitment events, helps to design, implement and executeundergraduate recruitment strategies and manages long-term admission goals inan assigned area as directed by the Admissions leadership team. DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES: Recruiting undergraduate students and increasing the visibility of DuquesneUniversity within recruitment territory to achieve enrollment objectives: Communicates witha large volume of prospective students through outbound phone calling, textmessaging, personal emails, handwritten notes, individual appointments(in-person and virtual), and the regular use of arsenal (both printed and webinformation as well as members of the campus community - i.e., faculty, alumni,current students, coaches and parents of current students). Cultivates,engages, grades, persuades and closes prospective students, qualifyingconversations and generating next steps (visit, apply, file FAFSA, submitenrollment deposit, submit housing application, register for classes, etc.).
Leads groupinformation sessions and meets one-on-one with prospective students and parentsas well as gives campus tours as needed.
Developsmeaningful relationships with alumni, school counselors and other constituentsin recruitment territory. Demonstratesknowledge of and ability to effectively communicate regarding all aspects ofDuquesne University, including but not limited to mission, core values,policies, academic programs, student life, outcomes, athletics, housing,financial aid, billing, advising, etc.
Makes financialplanning calls. Reports on aregular and ongoing basis to enrollment management leadership regarding allrecruitment activities utilizing data from Banner, Slate, Power BI, etc.
Makes informeddecisions to improve recruitment tactics and further develop visibility andrecruitment strategy and takes a "solutions-oriented" approach topartner with supervisor to solve challenges that arise. Providesguidance, mentorship and counsel to newer staff and steps in for supervisorsand assumes interim roles when necessary. Communicatesactively and effectively with colleagues and partners across campus. Liaiseswith/supports application review process for assigned territory and school(s)or program(s). Evaluatesundergraduate applicants' academic credentials/participates in the admissiondecision-making process, including awarding of appropriate scholarships. Coordinates andexecutes a recruitment travel plan inclusive of college fairs, high schoolvisits, information sessions and regional receptions. Travel may occur onweekdays and weekends.
Projects andmanages travel budget on a university procurement card. Completes otherduties as assigned. Requirements:
Minimumqualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited educationalinstitution.
1-3 years ofrelevant work experience. Valid PA DriversLicense.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination ofexperience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilitiesrequired to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is notlimited to, the following:
A valid driver'slicense is required. Demonstratedplanning and organizational skills to accommodate multiple priorities. Exceptionalleadership, customer service, interpersonal and communication skills, both oraland written. Effective publicspeaking and presentation skills. Fluency inSpanish preferred. Excellentanalytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize work. Strong technologyskills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Banner,Slate, social media and integrated database preferred. Ability to thinkstrategically and work in a diverse environment both independently and as partof a team. Ability to liftprospective student marketing materials (~30 pounds) and travel independently. Ability tomaintain a high energy level with an enthusiastic, positive approach creatingan excellent rapport with prospective students and their parents, team membersand other departments within the University community. Professionaldemeanor with the ability to deal with people in a courteous and tactfulfashion regardless of circumstances. Ability toestablish and maintain effective working relationships with the UniversityCommunity. Ability and willingness to contribute actively to the mission of the Universityand to respect the Spiritan Catholic identity of Duquesne University.
