Research Analyst Location: James V. Forrestal Building Washington, DC or DOE Headquarters Germantown, MD Employment Type: Full-time Salary Range: $68,000-74,000 annually The Research Analyst provides programmatic, analytical, and administrative support to the DOE’s Office of Environment, Health, Safety and Security, Office of Environmental Compliance and Radiation Protection (EHSS-11). This role will support environmental management programs through data analysis, technical editing, reporting, stakeholder engagement, meeting coordination, records management, and web content support. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and experience working with complex technical and programmatic information. Responsibilities EMS Support Maintain EMS databases, contact lists, trackers, and records management systems. Review annual EMS reports and develop summary analyses, metrics, and briefing materials. Maintain and update DOE environmental tracking tools, including endangered species databases and associated reporting documents. Conduct research and data collection to support environmental program initiatives and reporting requirements. ASER Program Support Manage annual collection, organization, and distribution of ASERs. Upload and maintain ASER content on Energy.gov, SharePoint sites, and shared network drives. Analyze ASER data and extract information relevant to DOE environmental programs. Research emerging environmental reporting topics and develop presentations, graphics, infographics, and briefing materials. Assist with planning and coordination of annual ASER meetings, workshops, and conferences. Program Analysis and Communications Research, gather, organize, and analyze data from multiple sources to develop reports, summaries, presentations, and briefing materials. Provide technical editing and document review support for reports, policies, guidance documents, presentations, newsletters, and other program communications. Ensure consistency, accuracy, formatting compliance, and quality control of documents prior to distribution. Consolidate and manage comments from multiple reviewers and stakeholders. Prepare correspondence, meeting materials, and presentation packages for management and program staff. Meeting and Stakeholder Support Coordinate, facilitate, and document meetings, working groups, focus groups, workshops, webinars, and virtual events. Prepare agendas, capture meeting minutes, track action items, and distribute meeting documentation. Provide support for recurring DOE meetings, including Clean Air Working Group (CAWG), Fugitive Emissions Working Group (FEWG), Hydrofluorocarbon (HFC), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Working Group, EMS Community of Practice meetings. Maintain effective communication with DOE headquarters personnel, site representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders. Web and Information Management Support Maintain SharePoint sites, contact lists, document libraries, and program records. Post and maintain program content on Energy.gov and other approved web platforms. Ensure documents and web content comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements. Support publication and maintenance of Integrated Priority Tracking System (IPTS) information and other program-related content. Manage distribution and posting of operational notices, recalls, and related communications. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physical science, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience related to health and safety policy, analysis, regulations, and quality assurance. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint. Experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting data for reports, briefings, and management decision-making. Demonstrated technical editing and document quality assurance experience. Experience coordinating meetings and preparing meeting minutes, summaries, and action-item tracking. Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to obtain and maintain DOE building access and security requirements. Ability to pass pre-employment and periodic substance screening requirements as required for client site access. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting the U.S. Department of Energy or other federal agencies. Familiarity with DOE environmental programs, environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, or site operations. Experience managing federal web content. Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements. Experience with environmental reporting, environmental management systems, or Annual Site Environmental Reports. Experience developing data visualizations, infographics, and executive briefing materials. Self-directed with the ability to identify issues, recommend solutions, and work with minimal supervision.
