Job DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Kalamazoo Country Club Senior Accountant is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for leading critical components of the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and supporting strategic financial initiatives. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, analytical capability, and the ability to partner cross-functionally with business leaders to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Close & Reporting LeadershipLead significant portions of the month-end and year-end close processesPrepare, review, and approve complex journal entries and accrualsOversee general ledger accuracy and ensure proper account classificationPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsPerform detailed financial statement analysis and present insights to managementResearch and resolve accounting discrepancies and technical issuesPrepare and review variance analyses with actionable recommendationsReconciliations & ControlsPerform and review monthly balance sheet reconciliationsStrengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with company policiesIdentify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracyOversee fixed asset tracking and CIP documentation processEnsure proper documentation and audit readinessBudgeting, Forecasting &; KPIsLead or significantly contribute to monthly forecasting processesPlay a key role in the annual budgeting processDevelop and report departmental KPIs and financial performance metricsPartner with department leaders to analyze trends and improve financial outcomesTax, Compliance & Regulatory ReportingOversee preparation and timely filing of sales tax returns and related paymentsProduction and review of month and year-end tax reporting (State sales and use tax, 1099s) for accuracy and complianceMaintain oversight of contracts, licenses, renewals, and vendor complianceEnsure adherence to Corporate Finance policies and accounting standardsCash Management & BankingOversee electronic payment processingPerform monthly bank account reconciliationsManage monthly petty cash and house bank account reconciliationsMonitor and manage company credit card activity and complianceAudit & Cross-Functional LeadershipServe as a primary liaison during internal and external auditsProvide technical accounting guidance to finance staff and other departmentsReview and approve sales commission calculationsCross-train and mentor junior team membersTeam lead for key Corporate Finance functions across Greenleaf Hospitality, Greenleaf Capital and Catalyst Development divisionsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required)Experience with Workday and Toast softwares preferred5+ years of progressive accounting experienceStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standardsExperience leading month-end close processesAdvanced understanding of A/P, A/R, accrual accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal controlsExperience with budgeting and forecasting processesAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHigh level of discretion and confidentiality #J-18808-Ljbffr
