Assistant Patient Care Technician (CNA Preferred)

As an Assistant Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in delivering direct patient care that promotes safety, comfort, and well-being.

General Summary

Working under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, or shift manager, you will assist with basic patient care tasks to ensure a safe and supportive environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes.
• Perform routine care activities such as monitoring vital signs, conducting glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility.
• Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and enhance their overall experience.
• Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making and quality outcomes.
• Effectively communicate relevant patient information to the healthcare team to improve care coordination.

Education

High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience

At least one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.

Certification and Training

If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, attendance at a Patient Care Assistant training academy is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and bending.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
