About the Role:

The CDL A Driver plays a critical role in the transportation and logistics industry by safely operating commercial motor vehicles to deliver goods across various regions within the United States. This position requires a high level of responsibility to ensure timely and secure delivery while adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations. The driver will manage routes efficiently, maintain communication with dispatch and customers, and perform routine vehicle inspections to guarantee operational safety. Success in this role contributes directly to customer satisfaction and the overall efficiency of the supply chain. The CDL A Driver must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to safety in all aspects of their work.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid CDL Class A driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating commercial motor vehicles.
• Knowledge of and compliance with DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination and drug screening.
• Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety inspection procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems.
• Familiarity with various types of freight, including hazardous materials (with appropriate endorsements).
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Customer service experience and strong communication skills.
• Ability to handle long-haul routes and overnight travel.

Responsibilities:

• Operate Class A commercial motor vehicles to transport freight over long and short distances.
• Plan and follow the most efficient routes while complying with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
• Maintain accurate logs of working hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery records in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues that arise during transit.
• Load and unload cargo as needed, ensuring proper handling and securing of freight to prevent damage.
• Report any mechanical issues or accidents promptly and follow company procedures for incident management.

Skills:

The CDL A Driver utilizes their driving skills daily to operate large commercial vehicles safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all transportation laws. Their knowledge of vehicle inspection and maintenance helps prevent breakdowns and ensures safety on the road. Effective communication skills are essential for coordinating with dispatch and customers, resolving issues, and providing updates. Time management and route planning skills enable the driver to meet delivery schedules and optimize fuel efficiency. Additionally, familiarity with technology such as electronic logging devices and GPS systems enhances navigation and regulatory compliance.
