Hiring for RN
Rose Senior Living
Agency Profile The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is a Non‑Profit Organization serving over 28 communities in the Greater Los Angeles area. Our program partners with families to support the "whole child." Through engaging learning experiences, children grow across all areas of development in a safe and welcoming environment that prepares them for lifelong success. Starting as young as six weeks, our Early Head Start, Head Start, and preschool classrooms promote school readiness by supporting health, nutrition, mental health, social‑emotional, and cognitive development. As a delegate of the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), our programs are funded in part by the Administration for Children and Families, Department of Health and Human Services, and California Department of Education. The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles also administers the CA Adult and Childcare Food Program through the CA Department of Social Services. Services In coordination with the Health & Nutrition Coordinator, the Registered Nurse (RN) plans and delivers health services for children in accordance with their scope of practice. The RN ensures children’s health records are current by supporting families in identifying and accessing medical and dental care, establishing an ongoing and accessible medical home, and providing referrals as needed. Provides annual Medication Administration Training for child development staff, including a minimum 2.5‑hour lecture and demonstration, in accordance with program policies and licensing requirements. Provides additional health‑related training and technical assistance for staff and parents to support child health and safety. Ensures timely completion of hearing and vision screenings within the 45‑day requirement, as well as growth measurements and documentation conducted twice per program year. Reviews and interprets all medical and dental documentation to identify children’s health needs, required follow‑up, medications, staff training needs, and referrals at enrollment and throughout the program year. Reviews all medication paperwork and medication containers prior to administration to ensure physician authorizations and parent consents are complete, accurate, and consistent with the medication provided. Completes medication checklists with parents and develops Individual Health Plans (IHPs) for children requiring medication or specialized health care, at the beginning of the program year and as needed. Communicates with children’s health care providers to clarify medical orders, diagnoses, treatment plans, and required health documentation. Reviews child health data to identify the need for medical intervention, counseling services, referrals, or home visits in collaboration with program staff. Maintains the Health Services Advisory Committee, including development and oversight of the committee charter, roles and responsibilities, recruitment of members, and facilitation of a minimum of two meetings per year. Develops and maintains a comprehensive list of community health referral resources and refers children and families to medical, dental, and health insurance services. Provides health education, parent conferences, and phone consultation to support families in meeting their children’s health needs. Provides follow‑up support to reduce barriers for families in obtaining required health services, including laboratory work, medications, eyeglasses, treatments, and immunizations. Completes and updates Individual Health Plans (IHPs) for children with identified medical conditions or diagnoses. Reviews and provides consultation on the development, implementation, and revision of health‑related policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and licensing regulations. Participates in parent meetings, support groups, and multidisciplinary team meetings to promote positive child health outcomes. Provides medical guidance and consultation to the Health and Nutrition Coordinator and teaching staff, as needed. Completes required 90‑day health services reviews in accordance with program monitoring and reporting requirements. Participates in transition meetings for children with identified health concerns to ensure continuity of care. Documents health reviews, medical documentation, screenings, referrals, and follow‑up activities in the ChildPlus data system in a timely and accurate manner. Qualifications One or more years of professional and technical nursing experience providing, coordinating, and administering care and referring patients for appropriate services. Experience in pediatrics or maternal/child health services is preferred. Completion of an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program. Current licensure as Registered Nurse with the California Board of Registered Nursing. CPR and First Aid certification required. Ability to effectively communicate in English (written and verbally, including presenting information and responding to questions from diverse groups). Spanish fluency preferred. Requirements Consultants will be required to obtain Live Scan fingerprint clearances from the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Child Abuse Central Index prior to starting work. Consultants will be reimbursed for the cost of the background check. Consultants must provide proof of the following immunizations: Influenza, Pertussis (TDAP), and Measles (MMR) vaccines. Consultants must adhere to YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles Standards of Conduct, mandated reporter requirements, and ensure confidentiality and HIPAA requirements. Consultants are required to provide evidence/documentation of ongoing continuing education units (CEUs) in the prenatal-to-five population to remain current in their respective field. Consultants will not be reimbursed for CEUs; they will be reimbursed for training related to LACOE’s policies and procedures if the knowledge of such policies and procedures is required to render consulting services, such as ChildPlus trainings and coordinator meetings. If the consultant is incorporated, the consulting company must provide proof of general liability insurance in amounts no less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 aggregate annually. #J-18808-Ljbffr
