Position Summary:

The job of Substitute Food Service is done for the purpose of providing support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for providing support to the food service activities at assigned location; preparing and serving food items to students and/or school personnel; and maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.

This job reports to the Kitchen Manager and Sub Coordinator

This job is 3 hours/day at various locations.

This is a temporary part-time position on an as needed basis.

The substitute pay rate for this position is: $15.00/hr.

Essential Functions:

• Assists with quantity food preparation.
• Assists with the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions are met.
• Sets up and breaks down serving lines (salad bar, hot food, a la carte etc.).
• Operates cash register.
• Counts money, makes change, complete related reports.
• Assists in cleaning lunch tables.
• Assists with dismissal of students from lunchroom.

Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED), previous experience with large scale cooking and food preparation/serving helpful.

Work Environment:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 0% sitting, 50% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
