About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intermediary Care (IMC) Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred License: Current Nursing License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous Charge Experience preferred Patient Ratio Experience: 4-5 patients Description: The role involves providing care in an intermediary care/stepdown environment specializing in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery. Nurses will maintain a 4:1 patient ratio. Expected patient types include those undergoing preoperative and postoperative care for cardiothoracic surgeries, as well as patients with cardiac conditions such as heart failure exacerbations or dysrhythmias. Knowledge in managing devices such as BiPAP/CPAP, providing blood product administration, and telemetry monitoring will be essential. Skills required include central line management, cardiac telemetry, and IV maintenance. Nurses will work with a multidisciplinary team, including Physical Therapy and Pharmacy, to deliver comprehensive patient care. Floating to other areas or facilities may be required as part of the orientation and staffing agreement. Additional responsibility includes maintaining safe staffing protocols based on patient acuity and unit needs. The unit supports a variety of patient diagnoses and requires knowledge in post-operative care for cardiac procedures.
