Sheriff's Office - Explorer Program

Overview This is a volunteer program —the Explorer Program gives youth (ages 14-20) a chance to learn about law enforcement, develop leadership skills, and become more involved in the community. Explorers will learn about the different areas/divisions of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office: patrol, jail, detectives, civil, and other areas of law enforcement. Explorers will also gain skills and may compete in state-wide competitions in the following areas: Arrest control CPR/first aid Crime scene investigation Criminal code Domestic crisis Drill and ceremony Ethics Firearm safety High-risk entry Hostage negotiation Patrol procedures Report writing Traffic control Traffic stops To be considered for an Explorer position: Must be between 14-20 years of age. Currently enrolled in school with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Must be a US Citizen No felony convictions. Once selected for the position, you will be required to: Volunteer 10 hours per month in an assigned area of the Sheriff’s Office. Attend at least two meetings per month.
