IBX Freight Services LLC is a high-performance, non-asset-based 3PL and freight brokerage providing scalable transportation solutions throughout North America.

We are seeking an experienced Individual with a strong background in freight brokerage, carrier sales, carrier procurement, and rate negotiation.

This is a hands-on, non-customer-facing position responsible for developing and managing a reliable, compliant, and cost-effective carrier network. The Carrier Account Manager will play a critical role in securing capacity, negotiating competitive rates, executing routing guides, protecting brokerage margins, and maintaining reliable freight execution across our core lanes.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of freight brokerage or carrier sales experience and thrives in a fast-paced environment where urgency, negotiation, problem-solving, and accountability matter.

Responsibilities:

Carrier Relationship & Capacity Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic and contract carriers.
  • Build primary, secondary, and contingency carrier networks across core lanes.
  • Source reliable capacity for current and anticipated freight needs.
  • Develop carrier relationships that improve service reliability, capacity availability, and pricing.

Carrier Procurement & Rate Negotiation

  • Negotiate contract and spot-market rates with carriers.
  • Manage buy-side pricing and help protect brokerage margins.
  • Analyze lane economics, carrier rates, market conditions, and capacity trends.
  • Identify opportunities to improve carrier pricing and procurement strategies.

Routing Guides & Carrier Strategy

  • Execute and maintain routing guides in partnership with Account Management and Operations.
  • Develop carrier allocation and capacity strategies for key lanes.
  • Support RFP pricing and dedicated lane strategies.
  • Establish contingency capacity plans to minimize service disruptions.

Carrier Performance

  • Monitor carrier performance, including on-time pickup and delivery, tender acceptance, service failures, claims, safety, and compliance.
  • Develop carrier scorecards and address performance issues.
  • Lead corrective action and carrier development efforts when necessary.

Capacity Planning & Market Intelligence

  • Forecast capacity requirements across key accounts and lanes.
  • Monitor freight-market conditions, capacity shifts, and pricing trends.
  • Provide market intelligence to Sales, Account Management, and Operations.
  • Help the organization anticipate capacity constraints before they affect customers.

Operational Execution

  • Partner closely with Operations to ensure consistent freight execution.
  • Serve as an escalation point for carrier-related service failures and capacity disruptions.
  • Help resolve time-sensitive transportation and carrier issues.
  • Maintain a high level of urgency in a dynamic freight environment.

Process Development

  • Develop and maintain carrier procurement SOPs, playbooks, escalation procedures, and execution standards.
  • Help strengthen IBX Freight’s carrier-management processes and institutional knowledge.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and profitability.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in carrier sales, freight brokerage operations, or cradle-to-grave freight brokerage.
  • Demonstrated experience with carrier procurement and capacity sourcing.
  • Strong experience negotiating spot and/or contract carrier rates.
  • Understanding of brokerage margins, lane economics, and freight-market pricing.
  • Experience managing multiple loads, lanes, carriers, or priorities in a high-volume transportation environment.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and resolve carrier or capacity problems with a high sense of urgency.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work 100% on-site in the Auburn/Tacoma, Washington area.
  • Availability to assist with after-hours escalations involving carrier execution or capacity disruptions when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing strategic carrier accounts or contract-carrier relationships.
  • Experience with routing guides, RFP pricing, and dedicated freight lanes.
  • Experience using Turvo TMS or a comparable transportation management system.
  • Familiarity with carrier vetting and compliance platforms such as MCP, Highway, or FreightValidate.
  • Experience using freight-market pricing tools and load boards such as DAT or Truckstop (ITS).
  • Previous experience mentoring or supporting carrier sales or brokerage operations team members is a plus.

Compensation:

Competitive base salary plus a performance-based bonus tied to factors such as margin performance, capacity reliability, and carrier-network development.
