Controls Engineer

EFCO, Inc.

Job Description

Job Description

Controls Engineer

Erie, PA

Compensation:

$85,000 - $100,000 Annually, with bonus potential

Company Overview:

Ajax/CECO/Erie Press is a subsidiary of Park-Ohio Holdings Corporation . For more than 145 years, customers all over the world have trusted Ajax/CECO/Erie Press to provide machinery, equipment, and engineering solutions to help them make the things that make the world work. From forging machinery and presses to engineering support, parts and service, Ajax/CECO/Erie Press keeps you forging ahead.

What We Do:

Ajax CECO Erie Press (ACE) designs and builds OEM forging presses and heavy industrial machinery used across aerospace, automotive, hand tools, medical equipment, munitions, energy, and mining. If you like solving hard problems on equipment that moves with serious tonnage, this team is where that happens.

What You Will Do:

You will join an engineering team of a dozen engineers, ranging from early career through 30 years of experience, reporting directly to the Chief Engineer. The team owns controls from initial design through startup and field support on machines that ship into some of the most demanding industries in manufacturing. The product catalog is wide enough that no two projects look alike, so the learning curve never flattens out.

If you have spent your career keeping one machine running, this role will feel different. You would be touching new designs, active field issues, and vendor decisions in the same week, across a product line that changes industry to industry.

Design

  • Program PLC, PC based, and motion control (PID) systems for new machine builds
  • Select electrical hardware and control components, balancing performance, cost, and standardization
  • Draw and review electrical schematics for new equipment

Field and Production Support

  • Support installation, startup, and testing on machines shipped to customers, domestic and international
  • Troubleshoot control system issues on installed equipment and guide corrective action
  • Work directly with customers and internal teams to resolve technical questions during commissioning

Purchasing and Vendor Management

  • Generate purchase orders for electrical and controls components
  • Evaluate vendors and components for correct fit at competitive cost
  • Track material from order through receipt to keep projects on schedule

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years designing and developing machine tool control applications
  • Working programming experience with industrial PLC platforms, Siemens and Allen Bradley preferred
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent schematic software
  • Comfort with 20% domestic and 10% international travel
