Journeyman - Plumber Reports to: Foreperson II - Plumbing Multiple Positions Pay Grade: 806 Salary Range: $51,728 - $62,308 Duty Days: 244 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Purpose Maintains the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures districtwide; maintains and provides for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Maintenance & Repair Assembles, installs, maintains, and pressure tests all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. Detects needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures. Determines sources of plumbing malfunctions and completes repairs as indicated or according to work orders. Installs and repairs pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment including sinks, commodes, and water heaters. Installs and repairs kitchen equipment such as gas stoves and dishwashers. Receives and completes work orders. Selects material and hardware and makes time and materials estimates. Maintains accurate records on material and labor used. Inspects jobs upon completion and ensures areas are clean. Works with building principals and supervisors to complete projects. Maintains inventory of District-owned tools, equipment, and materials. Assists in the training of apprentice plumbers as needed. Responds to emergency calls as needed; including after-hours and/or weekends. Safety Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition. Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques. Knowledge of plumbing codes. Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations with accuracy. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material. Ability to diagnose and resolve problems. Ability to organize and coordinate work. Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written forms. Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Physical & Mental Demands, Work Hazards Tools/Equipment Used: Might use standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals, to access and status work orders; plumbing tools and equipment including pipe bender, propane torch; hand tools; power tools; heavy equipment including forklift, trencher, backhoe; light truck or van. Posture: Frequent standing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting; works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving. Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis. Environment: Works outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and fumes, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; works around gas lines; works around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel. Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions. Emergency Response: Ability to respond to emergency work requests and to work overtime as required. Minimum Required Qualifications Education: Accredited High School diploma, GED, or Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency. Certification/License: Valid Texas Journeyman Plumber License required. Clear and valid Texas Driver's License required. Insurable by the District's insurance carrier required. Experience: As required to hold the Texas Journeyman Plumber License. Additional Requirements: Employees must provide necessary personal tools to perform assigned duties. FWISD is prohibited from replacing stolen or broken personal property.

INSURABILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL DRIVERS

Must be at least 21 years old. NO positive drug or alcohol tests including pre‑employment, random, post‑accident or reasonable suspicion. Driving and accident record: Valid Texas Department of Public Safety Driver Record Check Type 3A‑Certified list of all crashes and violations NO more than 2 violations during previous 36 months including: moving traffic violations (including no more than 1 preventable accident); failure to provide proof of valid driver’s license or proof of insurance; equipment violations. NO Driving Under the Influence (DUI) for drug or alcohol. NO leaving scene of an accident (bodily injury or physical damage). NO vehicular assault, manslaughter, or homicide. NO operating a vehicle with suspended or revoked driver’s license. NO reckless driving, speed contests, drag racing, or highway racing. NO use of a vehicle in commission of a felony. NO operating a vehicle without owner’s permission (unauthorized use or grand theft). NO permitting an unlicensed person to drive. NO speeding more than 20 mph over the posted speed limit. NO history of a conviction in a commercial or personal motor vehicle. Additional restrictions may apply if directed by FWISD’s Fleet Insurance Carrier.
