Patient Companion - Evenings/Nights - GWV Float Pool

Location: Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV). Shift: Nights (United States of America). Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36. Worker Type: Regular. Exemption Status: No. Responsibilities Provides a safe environment, companionship, and supportive care for patients that require constant observation as identified by a nurse or physician. Maintains a safe environment for any patient requiring 1:1 supervision. Maintains constant observation of the patient. Responsible to accompany the patient if he or she must leave the unit for reasons identified by the care provider. Maintain a safe, private, and comfortable therapeutic environment. Redirects impulsive and harmful behavior. Remains in clear sight of patient at all times, unless otherwise instructed by the nursing staff. Calls for assistance when unable to redirect patient or when there is a potential for self‑injury. Participates in report at the beginning and end of shift, making sure to inform pertinent information to Registered Nurse at the end of the shift. Accompanies patient to all clinical tests, procedures, or appointments off the unit. Talks to the patient and uses conversation to keep them focused. Assists patients with meals, when the patient does not have swallowing precautions or requires carbohydrate counts. Assists with bed making. Activates bed alarms and/or chair alarms. Assists staff with walking patients. Works in a clinical environment and is accountable for satisfying all job‑specific obligations and complying with organization policies and procedures. Position Details Full Time, Evenings/Nights Position (36 Hours/weekly). 3–12 hour shifts from 7pm to 7:30am. Every other weekend and holiday rotation required. Education High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) – Required. Certification(s) and License(s) Basic Life Support Certification – Default Issuing Body.
